Rubber Duckie Makes a Splash for Water Conservation

Saving water is an important step in conserving our earth’s resources but many find it difficult to do. Families with children usually face the most obvious uphill battle in this area; with so many clothes to wash, dishes to do and people to keep clean, water can be used up in Niagara Falls-like volumes. Every little step a family takes to try and save water can make a big difference in the long run, but many people simply don’t undertake any major, life-altering changes in order to see results.

Low-flow shower heads are one of the most common ways to avoid wasting household water. ConservCo, a Nevada-based plumbing distributor, has taken on the challenge of creating products that save water without diminishing the convenience of everyday life. Their Rubber Duckie & Friends line of shower heads for kids allows youngsters to enjoy bath time even more, while helping keep water usage to a minimum.

The shower heads are available in five characters: the classic duck, a rhino, a frog, a hippo and a dolphin. The universal plumbing design can be installed on any shower head, so they can be taken along on trips to just about anywhere in the world. Each Friend comes complete with a character showerhead, movable showerhead mount with rubber suction cups, 6-foot white plastic hose, and a 2-way water flow diverter. Many kids are apprehensive about transitioning from the bathtub to the “big kid shower,” but Rubber Duckie & Friends’ appealing look and gentle spray can help make the experience less intimidating. The two-way diverter allows users to switch between the Rubber Duckie & Friends shower head and a regular shower head.

ConservCo’s co-founders, Lauren Sellyei and Tony Termini, had been working together since 2004 to bring customers high-quality plumbing products that helped limit water usage. As Nevada-based business people, the pair were no strangers to the challenges involved in preserving precious resources in a dry desert climate that sees frequent droughts and water usage restrictions. They wanted to give customers the option of making educated choices when it comes to plumbing products so that they could make the most of the water they use.

In 2013, ConservCo launched Rubber Duckie & Friends to serve the needs of their littlest customers. They hope that by giving kids a fun, enjoyable experience with water-saving shower heads, they can plant the seeds of conservation, and empower the next generation to do all it can to ensure a healthy planet.
