The Giggle Guide® asked 26 moms “Are there certain types of children’s products you’re willing to pay a premium for?” When it comes to the welfare of their children, it is not surprising that most moms will invest more on products that ensure their kids’ health, safety, comfort and education. Quality and durability are also worth a premium. It is interesting that there is one product category in particular moms don’t want to skimp on — what do you think that is?

Los Angeles Market - Los Angeles, California (3/19/10 - 3/23/10)

I attended the March Market to see Kids on 6 at the California Market Center in Los Angeles. It took a full and busy afternoon to visit just a few of the many showrooms on the sixth floor. Here is a photo essay of what caught my eye. If I were a children’s retailer, I would definitely have to take several days to cover all that there is to see that’s new for Fall 2010. As far as trends go, tulle seems to be more popular than ever. Mismatched fabric combos, and greys with various fall hues are in many collections. European brands, especially in Patti Bergstrom Sales, are a particular surprise for their variety, full collections and incredible value pricing.

The age-old mystery of disappearing children’s socks frustrates parents to no end. From hungry washing machines to mischievous family pets, socks always have a way of losing their significant other. We’ve all scratched our heads in wonder at some point at the lonely, limp sock at the bottom of the laundry basket. Just where did that other matching sock go? How can parents avoid the dreaded odd-sock dilemma?

Plush stuffed toys are perfect for cuddling, snuggling and providing a touch of security for children at home and away. As children grow into toddlers and preschoolers, however, they often gravitate toward larger stuffed toys. Life-sized plush toys are great for snuggling, but they take up a lot of room and are hard to carry on overnight trips to Grandma’s. The Giggle Guide® has found a solution! Meet Bubby, My Inflatable Buddy.

Children love to have a special place to keep the tiny treasures and mementos that are their most cherished possessions. The Giggle Guide® knows this, and that is why we have sought out the most delightful musical treasure boxes available! Bandz are a new accessory craze catching on fast with tweens. They are rubber band-like bracelets, made of silicone and neoprene, available in several brands, shapes and colors. The versatile bandz are perfect for wearing, trading, collecting, stretching, twisting and making a fashion statement. After being twisted, they spring back to their original shape. Bandz are available in packets of themed animals and fun shapes. Check out this trio of bendable bandz that kids find “irre-wristable”: Funkibanz™, Zanybandz™, and SillyBandz.

Self-esteem is a big issue for girls today. Television, advertising, and even everyday expectations from parents, school, and friends put a lot of pressure on tween through teen girls. A healthy dose of hope and encouragement can help these young ladies strengthen their self-esteem and more easily cope with everyday “coming-of-age” challenges. The Giggle Guide® has found two terrific companies that offer products designed to encourage positive thinking for young girls: Zorbitz and Blessed Bracelets.

Children's Club - New York, New York (3/7/10 - 3/9/10)

The Children’s Club Fall 2010 show had a great turnout and was a huge success! It was exciting to see several new companies exhibiting with some unique products. Without the Bubble show running, some of its regular exhibitors decided to attend Children’s Club, largely exhibiting together in one row. With so many great lines, it is a difficult task to pick out favorites, but the following brands stood out to me with their soft, comfortable fabrics and fabulous style!
