Millions of products were recalled due to safety issues in the past year. Some of these recalled products had high contents of lead; others were choking or burning hazards and most were manufactured outside of the United States. Many people have lost jobs because the cheaper prices overseas closing US based manufacturing plants. Combine the job losses with the number of products manufactured outside of the United States being recalled, and you have a recipe for consumers who are more inclined to purchase products from companies who manufacture their products within the United States.

Children's Club - New York, New York (10/4/09 - 10/6/09)

The new 2010 Spring/Summer collections are out, and here at the The Giggle Guide® we’ve fallen head over heels for many of the new products introduced at the latest ENK International Children’s Club! The show floor overflowed with delightful contributions from innovative companies like 3 Sprouts, Moo Boo, and cachcach to name just a few. We’d like to share our enthusiasm by offering the following photos, straight from New York, for your viewing pleasure.

Melissa Lopez, owner of Little Peanut Boutique in Costa Mesa, California, loves kids, moms and sharing her children’s product discoveries with everyone. Her enthusiasm and passion for her new business is infectious. Her innovative approach to sales and customer referrals is motivational, and a bit of genius, as she puts the incredible marketing power of moms’ word-of-mouth and celebrity contacts to work for her. Everyone wins and has fun in this “oooh and aaaahhh” children’s world designed for… little peanuts!

Taking bedtime by the hand is a company called The Incredibeds, started by father and visionary Jeremy Maloney, who believed that bedtime didn’t have to remain something for kids to balk at. Tired of looking all over the house for his son’s favorite stuffed animals, in an effort to make sleeping more appealing, he imagined what it would be like for parents if the comforting presence of a stuffed friend was impossible to lose! Thus, Incredibeds was launched, and a new, appealing way of settling kids into bed was born.

ABC Kids Expo - Las Vegas, Nevada (9/13/09 - 9/16/09)

With miles of aisles, filled with juvenile products, the ABC Expo was a buyer’s (and editor’s) challenge. Does anyone really see more than 1,000 products at ABC? Leesa Valentino and David Gaunt from The Giggle Guide® were on the prowl throughout the show. Here are just a few of the products that we discovered from Baby Elephant Ears, Oxo, Teamees, Baby Magoo, Baby Sherpa, Abiie, BabbaCo and Lipper International

Nicole Johnson has logged countless hours creating her cozy, colorful and playful New Jammies organic sleepwear collections. The sleepless nights that were spent making bedtimes better for children have resulted in sweet dreams for her business. Looking into the trusting eyes of a baby, it’s hard to imagine anything more pure. Parents today are looking for the best, most wholesome products for their precious new addition, and that includes toys! With more and more mainstream toys being recalled for toxic paints or harmful components, many parents are turning to the basics to keep their children safe and happy. What better way do parents have to protect and stimulate their children than to consider the tactile delight of pure, organically inspired plush toys? The Giggle Guide® looks at four companies that meet these needs: Apple Park, miYim. Sigikid, and Simply Fido.
