This is one of my favorite times of year. It’s warm, beautiful and green outside and instead of going Back-to-School, I start Part II of my bi-annual trade show circuit. Current count: 2 down, 6 to go.

Trade show season is in my top 3 “Things I Love about my Job.” It starts with unpacking box after box of Spring 2010 samples and continues with meeting new clients, networking with colleagues and visiting beautiful cities all over the US. It’s crazy, it’s busy and I occasionally feel like I’ll never “get it all done” by October 31st but… I’m happily addicted to this time of year. We can always sleep in November, right?

A fantastic little blog called “Shop With me Mama” wrote a really sweet review of our clips and headbands recently. The woman behind Shop With me Mama is Kim, a stay at home Mom with two small children. As she says on her blog:

Yep, I’m honest Smile

Children's Club - New York, New York (8/2/09 - 8/4/09)

It’s show time again and the ENK Children’s Club Show at Pier 94 in New York City did not disappoint. It was heart-warming to witness the pursuit of so much good old American business. I saw orders being written, lots of smiles and laughter and a general sense of purpose. The Giggle Guide™ has found some outstanding lines featured, from high styles taken from the runway to educational threads and one-of-a-kind gifts. Here are our highlights from the shows, including Saurette, Meta Threads, Tangerine Sky, Tree by Kerri Lee and Earnest Sewn Kids.

Do we really know what our kids are watching on television these days? There are lots of television shows that are approved for children and are both child and parent friendly. But do we take the time to actually watch them? Spending time with your family watching a T.V. show or a made for television movie can be a great way to bond with them and start up good conversations, but are all the shows appropriate?

At The Giggle Guide™, our “Road to Success” series shares the interesting paths leaders in the children’s industry have taken that have guided and influenced their businesses. We recently heard about the journey of Pat Martinek, founder of Martinek BéBé. We’ve all heard about “Renaissance men,” but nothing about “Renaissance women.” Pat is a true Renaissance woman. She is known for her award-winning furniture products — round & rectangular cribs, hand-forged cradles, armoires, toy chests and other baby-oriented furniture — plus innovative, elegantly designed store fixtures.

Our frames by Posh Pics are original and made in the USA. The creative process begins with a splash of paint, random crackling and all over distressing. We go a little crazy with bows, metal crosses and fleur de lis, swarovski crystals and some bling here and there. Whether the frame you chose has some or all of these applications, the end result is a stylish, one-of-a-kind hand made piece. It’s perfect to enhance your photograph.

Bubble - Kids Trade Show - New York, New York (8/2/09 - 8/4/09)

New York, NY, August 6, 2009 - Bubble New York, the Kids Trade Show, hosted it 8th edition at Cedar Lake (547 West 26th Street) from August 2 thru August 4, 2009.

Angela Edgeworth, the co-founder of pediped footwear, recently sat down with Erin Clack of Footwear News to discuss her newly blooming company and why her shoes really are that amazing.

FN: Pediped turns five this year. Are you surprised by how quickly the company has grown?
AE: Yes, but we were always working hard, so we didn’t have much time to enjoy it and sit back and pat ourselves on the back. [Considering the rapid growth], we quickly revised our plans and goals for the company, and since then, we have been on track — even in the downturn.

Ahh, the joys of teething. After just a few months of life, that sweet, cooing baby starts to fuss with teething pain. Teething babies will chew on anything within reach, including their mother’s favorite jewelry, to help relieve the pain. Most jewelry isn’t designed to stand up to this constant gnawing and can easily become damaged or pose safety risks to little ones. Knowing this, many mothers sadly put away their jewelry. Well, The Giggle Guide® thinks moms should keep their bling and provide baby with some comfort! We have found some of the most stylish and responsible lines of teething jewelry that moms can proudly wear both at home and out on the town. There are some great pieces for dads too!

The idea of going back to school isn’t as far fetched as we would like to think. It’s only the beginning of August, and back to school supplies and clothes have already hit the shelves. Excitement, sadness and feeling overwhelmed are just some of the emotions that come rushing back when the idea of starting school comes to mind. But don’t be fooled, these feelings affect you as parents, as well as the kids.
