Otium Brands is an up-and-coming company with a lot to offer for moms who have an appreciation for natural parenting philosophy paired with a great sense of style. Their products are practical and useful and they also look great. The designs fit in perfectly with the easy-going yet active lifestyle that many parents aspire to enjoy. Clicking through their product catalog you’ll find Cozee Toes, the company’s flagship product and one of their best sellers. These sock/leg warmer hybrids are easy to layer under pants, shorts or skirts. They come in a variety of stylish colors and themes for both girls and boys.

While swaddling is known to calm down a fussy baby, using a godee (a cloth pouch) takes baby to a whole new level of peace and comfort. Promoting a cozy place for baby to feel safe and happy, MeLuvKush makes godees in attractive patterns and prints inspired by India’s rich visual culture. The godee is great for people who aren’t very confident holding a newborn, since it keeps the baby supported better than outside of it, and easily converts to a changing pad when needed. Handmade by skilled women right outside of Delhi, India and made with safe fabric dyes, the godee is the perfect gift for new mothers right out of the hospital.

KidShow - Las Vegas, Nevada (2/16/15 - 2/18/15)

Buyers at the KIDShow Vegas, held February 17-19th at Bally’s, were able to discover lots of new exhibitors and brands, as well as proven favorites that always support this show because they can rely on it to come through with new doors, plus opportunities to enhance existing retailer relationships. The event’s hospitality and buyer-friendly atmosphere is always welcoming. After attending every KIDShow for almost 15 years, I was particularly pleased to meet new people that charged my professional battery for the health of the children’s fashion industry, and new brands with something both worthy to offer and be discovered by specialty stores looking for their next buzzworthy line.

Babies do lots of things well –– among them is growing fast. Blink and the baby who fit that outfit perfectly has totally grown out of it. The answer is adjustable clothes which comes to fruition via Posheez by American Posh. The line is the brainchild of Denisa Dragu who was unable to find a quality one-piece that would fit her long, slim newborn. Before you could say “perfect fit,” she came up with premium quality clothes that can be tweaked so body and outfit actually come together perfectly.

While most companies are now making the switch to more eco-friendly products, Babysoy has been environmentally conscious since its inception. Their entire newborn clothing line is made from soybean pulp, adding very minimal impact to the environment when processed. The fabric that’s produced is incredibly soft, breathable, and completely free of chemicals. This isn’t your average all-natural clothing line; it’s the ultimate in sustainable living.

It can be difficult to sell a line of plain baby carriers, but thanks to Cuddleroo, it doesn’t matter what the carriers look like. These adorable animal-themed covers are the perfect way for one to stand out among the rest. They work with most soft structured carriers (ones worn as a backpack or on the chest), and help protect baby from the elements too. Great as gifts for parties, baby showers, or themed events. There are plenty of options to choose from; your store could offer the whole zoo!

While a lot of toys are used to simply keep babies distracted, Tiny Love offers products that support a child’s growth and development. Mobiles, gyms, and carriers are all made with the thought of how to make these first years a great beginning in a child’s life. These products are more than just a baby item, they stimulate an engaging and interactive experience. Multiple awards in best innovation and development show how instrumental parents will view Tiny Love products as educational choices for their babies.

KIDShow Las Vegas kicks off on President’s Day, Monday February 16th this year at Bally’s. The three-day event expects to host more new and first-time KIDShow exhibitors than ever before. Show Manager Denise Raeside says, “We are very excited to report that our exhibitor list has grown to over 60 new brands and first-time exhibitors and multi-line rep showrooms, in addition to many loyal brands that have supported our show from the beginning.” KIDShow is known for its welcoming atmosphere, excellent buyer and exhibitor relationships, and range of quality exhibitors with something for every retailer’s price point from mid-tier to high-end.

The age-old adage about teaching man to fish holds universally true, and never more so than at Haiti Babi. Many of the 500,000 children in Haitian orphanages are put there by parents who simply cannot afford to provide for them. Haiti Babi was created with the crucial mission to keep kids with their parents. What does it take to keep kids out of orphanages and with their parents? It sounds so simple: get parents work. Putting moms to work is just one of Haiti Babi’s missions. A job empowers these moms to earn a living while caring for their families. Haiti Babi hires moms in Haiti to knit and crochet high-quality artisan baby goods.

Many times the history of a children’s product company is a family story. Juvenile product and fashion entrepreneurs tend to be influenced and inspired by the young people in their lives, or by experiences they had in their own youths. There’s something about two people who grew up with the same influences, but who developed their own unique creative visions that they can merge in a harmonious way. Petit Lucette is one such company. Founders Anais Viel Castel and Clemence Laubier are sisters who grew up in Paris.
