Editorial Director’s Product Picks Here’s Part 2 of what caught my attention on a recent visit to the California Market Center, located in the heart of the garment district in downtown Los Angeles. The 6th floor is the showplace for everything in-fashion for children. Most of the permanent showrooms are members of the Kids on 6 co-op association. As you enter your open-to-buy season, make this a must-see destination. If buyers pick up a few new lines, they can reap a “gold mine” for their stores. You can also learn more about sales reps thru the easy-to-search Guide on The Giggle Guide™. Checking out sales rep showrooms in advance can help you plan your shopping itinerary. All-in-One Hands-Free Diaper Bag & Baby Carrier!

It’s a baby bag. It’s a baby carrier. It’s both the Sidekick, inaugural offering of the Seattle-area company Kemby is the only product of its kind. At first glance, it is a spacious, style-conscious and well-designed diaper bag. But a closer look reveals the components that transform the Sidekick into a hands-free baby carrier – a feat accomplished without sacrificing any of its capacity or functionality as a diaper bag.

A few weeks ago I wrote about key factors that influence why sales reps choose to represent your brand.

Those factors include:
• Good marketing; Branding
• Exclusivity of product
• Appropriate price points
• Focus
• “It” factor

Those points focus on your product. Some other key points that influence why a rep might work with you, or might continue to work with you, focus on, well… you.

The Rep Relationship

Finally! No more gouging, pinching car seat handle digging into your arm!

Entrepreneurial mom of 3, Lily, had enough and developed the Padalily, a stylish pad for the handle of a carseat. It adds comfort and style to the otherwise plain and uncomfortable handle. Welcome relief for moms that struggle to carry a car seat or infant carrier into stores, restaurants, and doctors’ offices.

I often receive phone calls from people in the kid’s industry. Usually from recruiters, sales managers, entrepreneurs or moms soliciting advice and ostensibly, building their network. These callers speed through the “niceties” portion of the call and, after their lightning-fast self-introduction, I often don’t know the name of who’s calling me, or why they’re calling.

Retail Reality celebrates Baby Frenzy, a family-owned retail store in El Toro, Californiam run by Linda and Michal Byerline. The store is the public side of a cloth diapering manufacturer, Happy Heineys, that operates an upstairs manufacturing facility. The combination retailer/supplier educates local parents about the environmental and financial benefits of cloth diapering and other natural parenting methods, and the products available today that help save green in both the pocketbook and the environment! A growing trend has emerged where manufacturers of all sizes are exploring the options of retailing and wholesaling. We were happy to discover Baby Frenzy and Happy Heineys! Who do you know that combines both worlds successfully?

Every parent knows the struggles of dining out with a baby. Food ends up on the floor, all over the table, and rarely in baby’s mouth. Tired of playing the drop-it-and-pick-it-up game, many parents opt to stay home.

For those parents who want to dine with baby without all the mess and stress, the Neatnik Saucer is your answer. While nothing short of a miracle will keep baby from making the messes, the Neatnik Saucer allows Mom and Dad to relax knowing that baby is safe from germs and the restaurant is safe from baby!

I spent this past weekend with my family and while I intended to write a blog about networking, it never happened. Instead, as the weekend progressed, I thought a lot about the funny things my family says that have turned into our own personal catch phrases. I thought I’d share some of our family favorites with you today.

Mom: “I’m a little chilly.” (usually said when everyone else is sweating bullets)

Dad: “What?” (whenever anyone tells a joke related to being hard of hearing, which he is)

Almost every new mother that attempts to breastfeed struggles with a reality that is much more confusing and difficult than she ever imagined. Moms of multiples face an even steeper climb to the bliss of “established breastfeeding.” With the unbelievable demands of a newborn, caring for multiples can make breastfeeding seem impossible.

With multiples comes a unique set of challenges which may include prematurity, low birth weight, and skyrocketing costs. Considering both the health and cost benefits, it is no wonder many moms of multiples wish to breastfeed their babies.

Before I start this blog, I want to note that I will be moving my weekly blog to this location on the Giggle Guide. Being involved with social media since 2003, I can honestly say that it is about time that a platform like The Giggle Guide has finally come to be. I urge everyone involved in the various related trades and industries to jump in with both feet and get involved!
