Monica Willis, an Australian mum of two, now has two kids AND two kids’ stores growing in Brooklyn! With a background in fashion and props for TV and commercial advertising, she was inspired to open a children’s shop when she realized her comunity needed one. The Giggle Guide™ Retail Reality series asks Claire the hows, whens, whats and what-ifs that have made her Corduroy Kid stores a great place in the neighborhood.

With the trade show season starting, The Giggle Guide™ will be busy publishing many Trade Show Reports. Co-founder/Editor Leesa Valentino and/or I will be attending the following shows: ENK Children’s in August and October, Bubble NY, KidShow Las Vegas, MAGICKids, ABC Kids Expo, Kids on 6 LA Market Week, Dallas Market, and Vegas Kids at World Market Center in Las Vegas.

Are we there yet? As part of our Kid’s Travel Series the Giggle Guide™ has found some of the newest and most inventive products out there to keep kids busy, and quiet, on those long car rides and extended layovers. When children are in the van, go creative (like “Van Gogh”!). These brands offer little artists great MPG (masterpieces per gallon) when on-the-road: Alex Toys, Klutz, Alfonsi Venetis Kids and Lap Desk.

Happy 31st Anniversary to le top!

The people behind le top are highly respected, admired, and looked up to in the children’s industry as an example of so much that is great about the children’s business. Co-owner Chris Lun shares the birth, growing pains, challenges and triumphs of le top’s history. Chris always talks about the le top employees, and their retail customers, as “family.” Here’s a behind-the-brand look at this family’s success.

Stuffed animals, books, crayons, and tiny plastic game pieces with no home all somehow manage to make their way into little one’s packing. You simply cannot leave the house without “those” three blocks — they are essential! Packing with and for kids can be a maddening experience. Heard of “The Golden Rule”? Here’s The Platinum Rule!

The Snugaboo line of whimsical blankets takes the concept of playtime a step further by teaching children to “Be Good” through play and make-believe. Snugaboo is built on the Platinum Rule, “Do unto others as THEY would have done to themselves!”

Hello everyone. I’ve had quite an interesting last couple of weeks…mainly why I haven’t been on this blog. My computer has had a virus and still does…and I’m still trying to get it fixed. I’ve been working off a laptop and my husband’s computer, but since everything is mainly linked to mine, I’ve been unable to even load new art on my Etsy shop and my main site. I am so frustrated…I can’t even tell you. I am also sorry to those who I haven’t e-mailed back, because it was my business e-mail that got attacked by a nasty virus. I will get back to you and hopefully soon.
