LamanBlu™ is the vision of designer Holli Gibson. Gibson established her career as a designer in the 90’s, designing sportswear and dresses for many high profile private clients as well as major high end retailers, including Nordstrom’s and Victoria’s Secret. After a taking a time with family and friends, and relocating to the Rocky Mountains, Gibson has re-entered the fashion world, this time with her focus on children. This foray into the childrens market has earned her The Rising Star Award for design from Fashion Group International.

“It’s such a fun business, it really gets in your blood and you can’t leave it forever.” says Gibson. Gibson’s children ushered in her desire to focus on kids. “Children are so wonderful to work with. They embody the joy of life. Every day is special, something to celebrate.” Being a mom herself, Gibson understands that even special clothes need to be functional. Her fabrics are soft and wonderful to the touch, all with great movement. “Since kids never stop moving” she says. Durability is also important. Everything in the line is machine washable and ironing is optional.

Gibson finds inspiration in her travels and in the nature close to her Mountaintop studio. Trips to Turkey, France, the Italian Alps, Mexico and throughout the Caribbean have influenced her clothing and textile designs, resulting in a worldly esthetic that draws upon many cultures, crafts and time periods. Forays into nature also inspire her, providing vivid imagery of snow flakes, pebbles, water, fish and other creatures of the coral reefs, trees, flowers and animals. These organic patterns and shapes are recorded in her sketchbook and her photo journal and emerge, sometimes unexpectedly, in her designs. “I love traveling and often collect ideas from architecture, the culture and the wonderful people you always meet,” says Gibson. Her next trip will be a windswept beach in the southern Caribbean to explore the reefs and watch the living jewels flitting around them.
