Michell & Co

With more then 75 years of know-how in processing Alpaca, Michell & Co is today the leading Alpaca Tops and Yarns producer and exporter in the world. Even though the family was involved in the Alpaca business before the 1900’s, Michell & Co was founded by Mr Frank W Michell in 1931, firstly as a sorter and exporter of greasy Alpaca fibers. In 1947, Michell & Co established its first coming and spinning plant, thus creating and setting the standard of what the Alpaca industry is today in Peru and around the world.

Years later, Mr Michell’s idea of adding value to the fiber was carried successfully through the Alpaca breeding and the industrial processes of sourcing, carding, combing, spinning, dying, knitting and weaving into cloth. The full integration of the company has been achieved thanks to Mr Michell’s sons and grandsons. They have striven at all times to recruit and train first class workers, modernize production facilities, improve the manufacturing processes and adopt a culture of change in order to react quickly to the world wide market needs.
