I first met Claire Ekelund, co-founder of Bébé au Lait, about 8 years ago when she introduced her collection of designer breastfeeding covers, which was a first in what became a new product category for nursing mothers. I loved that she had the practical sense of humor to name her creation “Hooter Hiders,” which was brilliant too because it quickly told the function of the product, which previously had not been so fashionably conceived. The company, Bébé au Lait, has evolved into a multi-line brand that is equally known for its fashion and function.

Scratches and scrapes are part of an active child’s life, so when they happen, parents can be ready to soothe them with Ouchies, latex-free bandages in a playful range of styles. For young ladies who are bound to stub a tiny toe, show your customers the 4Girlz offering, packed in a charming, show-offable tin box. These bandages come in twenty spiffy designs, four each of Flower Power, Pink Camouflage with Hearts, “Girls Rule” Tattoo, and Desserts & Doodle. Customers shopping for girls will also be delighted to recognize the Olivia bandage design based on the popular book starring everyone’s favorite pig.

Everyone knows that a baby’s soft skin is delicate. Little ones suffer from a number of external irritants that wouldn’t affect adults, because an adult’s outer layer of skin is more developed. While problems like diaper rash are common issues, the increased permeability of baby’s skin also means that more irritants can pass through it. Wouldn’t it be great to provide products that give your customers peace of mind and help little ones stay comfortable? Safe, non-toxic products that protect infants and toddlers, such as the lotions from BabySpa, may just be what the doctor ordered.

For many parents, bath time is an aspect of baby care that sparks a bit of apprehension. Handling a wiggly infant is challenging enough when he’s clothed and dry; a soapy, bare baby can be a challenge for the new mom or dad. The CuddleCloth is a unique product that helps take the worry out of bathing baby. This large, soft receiving blanket/bath towel makes it easy for a caregiver to quickly and easily transfer a baby from the tub to the changing table or other surface without slipping or dripping, making bath time a more fun, pleasant experience for baby and adult alike.

As retailers, it’s hard to ignore the green revolution. More young families are demanding natural, organic or sulfate-free products. Nowhere has “clean and green” been more in demand than in cleaning products. New parents need the strongest stuff on the market to clean up the messes, but want those products to be safe and gentle as well. It isn’t easy for retailers to wade through the growing waters of products marked “natural” or “organic,” so we’ve helped out a bit and feature a few favorite brands: BuggyLOVE, Better Life, Dapple and Fresh Wave.

For many customers, God is present in all aspects of their daily lives, making them appreciate visual reminders of God’s goodness. Retailers can tap into the spiritual needs of customers by offering brands that inspire, with a lively spirit of practicality and fun. Dedicating and reflecting a family’s faith on baby’s clothes and other items is a way parents celebrate and give witness to their beliefs. Products from LittleDisciples, Wee Believers, Band Angels and Dicksons, Inc., proclaim a Christian message.
