Big Heart Baby is Showing the World How to Give

Shane Farkas and Alex Rabinovich are showing the world what it means to have a big heart! In 2009, they traveled to Southeast Asia to find a fabric manufacturer for a new children’s clothing line that they were developing. Little did they know that their hearts would be forever changed! During their trip, Shane and Alex repeatedly met underprivileged children suffering from lack of proper nutrition and health-care. They decided that there was no better way to make a difference in needy children’s lives than to create a company, Big Heart Baby, that would continually and generously give back.

Big Heart Baby Gets Its Start

In early 2010, the company Big Heart Baby launched with a philanthropic mission to serve an eager clientele and devoted fan base, and to make a difference. “Those of us who are fortunate to not be personally touched by a child suffering from malnutrition or illness, may not fully realize the emotional, physical, and financial trauma millions of children and families are facing every day,” says Alex. “We are proudly building a sustainable way to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate in the U.S. and all over the world. We want to become a company that people are familiar with — a brand and an entire line of products that will empower everyone to make a difference simply by shopping for the things they need. Ultimately, we hope to raise funds and awareness for many causes and inspire other companies and people to do the same.”

Big Heart Baby is generously donating 50% of proceeds from every purchase to charities in the areas of autism, pediatric AIDS, childhood cancer, congenital heart defects, juvenile diabetes, and child cancer. Big Heart Baby is teaming up with established non-profit charities to distribute all donations in an honorable way. “Working with legitimate and honest organizations that really make an impact is what it’s all about,” states Alex. The company just announced its affiliation with The Children’s Heart Foundation for congenital heart defects, and Cure Search for children’s cancer. “We are really proud of the great partnerships we are forming with these charities, and are in the process of creating more great relationships right now.”

Currently, donations are generated based on the color choice that is selected. However, Alex says that customers will soon be able to mix and match colors and selected charity donation choices. “There are a number of new products and new concepts that will be released this month. We’re creating more choices for customers, so they will be able to purchase any of our products in any color, and choose the cause they would like each item to benefit.”

“Another focus is to provide a quality and natural product for our customers,” Says Alex. For that reason, all the clothing is made from either 100% cotton, or organic cotton. “Our various fabric and manufacturing is currently done in Fair Trade establishments in the U.S., Vietnam and India.”

The Future of a Big Heart Baby

Big Heart Baby is not limiting themselves to just one-piece baby items either: they are going to be releasing a line of tees for children ages 5 and under in the next several weeks, so toddlers and preschoolers can show off their big hearts too. Hoodies, tees, and an adult clothing line are also in the works. “We want to develop Big Heart Baby into a full clothing line just like any well-established brand, so parents and retailers can buy anything and support a multitude of well deserving charities at the same time,” says Alex.

Shane and Alex have big plans for the future. Providing quality products that will continue to give back is only part of what they hope to accomplish. “Our goal is to raise awareness for causes that need attention.
