Nook is a Breath of Fresh Air

A good night’s sleep filled with sweet dreams is every parent’s wish for their young one each night. A cozy crib with comfy bedding is the perfect setting for peaceful rest. Yet, as the makers of Nook Sleep Systems know well, not all crib mattresses and bedding are created equal. Through their extensive research, the Nook Design Team found that many infant mattresses are actually made using harsh chemicals which release potentially harmful gasses and toxins. They developed a revolutionary sleep system that would not only provide a good night’s sleep but a healthy one as well.

Nook Sleep Systems came to life from the collaborative efforts of 72andSunny, a celebrated global advertising and design shop, Deep River, an investment partnership, and SMM Equity Partners, Ltd. Nook’s vision was to create a breathable, non-toxic, and comfortable sleeping environment for infants. Their goal was to design smart, functional products that improve the lives of parents and children.

The heart of the Nook Sleep System is the Pebble Organic mattress which is composed of several layers, with each serving an important purpose. A 100% natural latex core provides breathability, ergonomic support, and thermal regulation. An airflow layer and organic wool fire barrier work simultaneously to increase the circulation of oxygen inside the crib. The outermost layer is the Pebble Organic Wrap. This layer features a woven, asymmetrical, pillowed surface that facilitates airflow while wicking away unwanted moisture and heat from the child. This surface facilitates easy clean-up of night-time accidents, eliminating the need for a separate mattress pad. The Pebble Organic Wrap facilitates vital breathability and air flow at all points of contact, and also uses a patented, natural technology to eliminate fungus, mold, odors, and other nursery pathogens on the mattress surface.

To complement the mattress, Nook created a colorful, organic bedding collection, also using safe, non-toxic materials. A fabric weave of organic cotton and eucalyptus fibers help achieve natural temperature regulation. A bleach and chemical-free process is used in the production of the bedding to eliminate harmful toxins as well as generate the brightest color of fabric. The bedding collection comes in bold, modern color combinations and patterns and includes fitted crib sheets, blankets, pillows, and even NapSacks.

Recently, Nook introduced the Pebble Lite mattress. This mattress incorporates many of the unique benefits of the Pebble Organic at a more attractive price point.
