Colorado resident Susan Brown founded The Boppy Company in 1989. She was a working mom with a child in daycare when the idea for the Boppy came out of the blue. The daycare coordinator had asked the parents to bring in pillows to help the young babies in the daycare to sit upright. Susan brought in a C-shaped pillow, and to the delight of the other parents, it ended up being the perfect shape to comfortably prop up a young child.
