MeLuvKush Godees Cuddle and Comfort Babies
While swaddling is known to calm down a fussy baby, using a godee (a cloth pouch) takes baby to a whole new level of peace and comfort. Promoting a cozy place for baby to feel safe and happy, MeLuvKush makes godees in attractive patterns and prints inspired by India’s rich visual culture. The godee is great for people who aren’t very confident holding a newborn, since it keeps the baby supported better than outside of it, and easily converts to a changing pad when needed. Handmade by skilled women right outside of Delhi, India and made with safe fabric dyes, the godee is the perfect gift for new mothers right out of the hospital. This is a renewed twist in baby comfort. Made from 100% cotton and stuffed with polyfil, these cloth pouches can calm even the fussiest baby. Their unique patterns are made from two types of printing processes: wet-on-wet screen printing and block-printing. Only eco-friendly dyes are used while these fabrics are being processed in Jaipur, India. Each godee measures 18 inches wide by 30 inches long, fitting babies from five to twelve pounds (newborn to about six months old). They are machine washable and line dried is recommended.
Choose from a variety of different colors and animal prints. Pink peacocks or blue elephants decorate the godee’s exterior, with a soft, complementary pattern inside. There is even a gender neutral option available, just as vibrant as the others. Sold on its own it makes a great new mother gift, or together with a bundle of items to further comfort baby. Not only will these pouches make baby feel safe and secure, but they also protect against germs when baby is held by many people at once.
The creators behind MeLuvKush were inspired to create godees after they each realized how helpful they were with their children. Their mothers made them their first godees, passing down this tradition from their relatives. Wondering what was so special about a godee when swaddling blankets do a similar job, each MeLuvKush founder realized instantly how comfortable and relaxed their babies were inside one. They knew that this was something other mothers were going to love. They started designing their godees and continue to do so in New York City, sourcing their materials from India.
