Uncommon Kids Gear is as much a lifestyle as it is a store.

Our children bring us great joy and a sense of accomplishment as well as a great responsibility. We believe that part of that responsibility includes providing a safe, nurturing environment where you play with your children and give them the tools to discover their own identity. We also believe that parents have a responsibility to themselves to not give up their own identity or sense of style, after all, you’ve been developing it all of your life.

We select products with the children and parents in mind - products are chosen because of their unique design, high quality, or functionality, not because a cartoon character’s picture is on it.

We offer toys which serve a purpose in the development of your child. Toys which are beautiful, yet practical are much more apt to be used and not found at the back of the closet when your kids are heading off to college. We believe that parents will develop a greater bond with their children through interactive play and not by getting them the trendy toy that all their friends are asking for.

We also believe that parents need to be comfortable and nurtured as well – beautifully designed diaper bags, functional, high quality strollers, neat things for your child’s room will all help to make the transition from young hipster to hip parent that much easier.

We believe strongly in our community – we have been Nova Scotians for over a century and we love our life here. We work hard to bring our community new and exciting products and concepts and we give back to our community wherever possible. From charitable activity, to children’s sport to our Community Room we are trying hard to make a big, positive footprint in this community.
