Sunglasses Are Not Too Cool For School.
Wearing Sunglasses To School Is More Than Cool.
Sunglasses are hardly too cool for school. In fact, you should put them at the top of your list of must-have school supplies. That’s right, sunglasses are just as important as pencils, pens and notebooks. Here’s why. Sunglasses have been proven to reduce Eye Fatigue. Without good quality UVA/UVB protection the sun’s glare can tire children’s eye muscles. When this happens their vision can become blurry in the classroom. What’s more eye fatigue can cause headaches, migraines and double vision. Sunglasses have been proven to actually reduce Eye Fatigue.
And if that’s not reason enough to make sunglasses necessary school gear consider this. Kids spend 80% of their time outdoors and UV ray damage from the sun is cumulative and irreparable. 90% of sun damage occurs before kids reach their 18th birthdays and children under 10 are most susceptible to eye damage from the sun.
Research shows, eye health has a direct impact on the quality of children’s schoolwork. Kids playing outside, without good quality UVA/UVB eye protection, might find that their eyes bother them more while sitting in class than classmates who wear their sunglasses while outdoors. So put a good pair of sunglasses on the top of your back-to-school shopping list. For more information about eye health and education, check out www.preventblindness.org and www.thevisioncouncil.org.
