In the spirit of sharing the Good News, Christians from every denomination are moved to carry Christ’s message of love and peace into their daily lives, and especially to their young children. 80% of Americans believe in God, and 60% consider themselves to be Christians. With numbers like that, the Christian market can provide retailers with a good following, if they carry a selection of Christian-based products for children.

When Carol Yenne’s grandson was born prematurely, weighing only 2 lbs 11 oz, this San Francisco granny realized it was time to make hard-to-find preemie outfits readily available for other families. At her store, Small Frys, she now offers a variety of sweet clothing collections, designed for babies weighing 2 pounds and up. The preemie collections are from Coccoli, Kissy Kissy Preemie, Petite Bateau and Le Top. At Small Frys, they know that when babies come early, having comforting little outfits can make a big difference.

Nearly 80 years later, Halloween in the U.S. has become a multi-billion dollar industry. To celebrate this spookiest of holidays, The Giggle Guide® takes a look at some of the creative dress-up options available for kids (and parents) today. New restrictions from the CPSC passed last year with the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act have caused confusion and controversy in the children’s industry. While many agree and gladly comply with stricter lead and testing requirements, the broad language in the legislation could put small operations in a tight spot.

Recently CPSIA has turned its attention to resellers in the children’s industry including consignment stores and garage sales.

One new brand generating a lot of buzz in the marketplace is Tangerine Sky, the creation of Jeff Dodge and his parents John and Judy Dodge. The new collection addresses what the Dodges see as an unmet need in the marketplace — fashionable yet age appropriate apparel for girls and their parents who are more discriminating than ever in their shopping habits. “Our research found that girls are developing a sense of style at a very early age,” said Jeff Dodge, Director of Sales and the new dad of a little girl.
