I love working in the children’s business, but over my 30-year career in advertising, marketing and journalism, there have been a few truths about children’s apparel and juvenile products manufacturers that I wish would change. Many key people wear too many job hats, so their focus shifts from designing, sales, shipping, manufacturing, managing and more so quickly that the workday speeds away. That often means that the marketing hat sometimes makes no headway!

Setting up a nursery can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be if you do a bit of planning. Think about what purpose the room will serve. Most certainly, it will be a sleeping space, but beyond that, what are your goals? Will this room serve as a play room as well? Will this room be shared with another sibling or nanny? Once you determine the uses for the space, you create a frame for the work to begin.

In any business, it’s always good to know the man in charge. Although I know that All Baby & Child Inc. is guided by a committee of independent juvenile product retailers and manufacturers, and they have a great team that organizes its annual ABC Spring Conference and ABC Kids Expo… the main man is Larry Schur, President of ABC. Good to know!

I’ve always thought bangs are cute. So I had my hair cut to have bangs on them. Then it turns out my forehead doesn’t think they’re so cute after all. My skin is too picky with my hair styles, I tell you. Somehow, it abhors any contact with my hair! One wrong move and boom: major breakouts. The breakout that developed quickly on my forehead was a pretty clear sign to me that it’s time to do some damage control. But then there’s not much I can do but to wait for the bangs to grow out. And boy, do they take time to grow out…

Normally I wouldn’t click on links because I don’t have a lot of time. I’m so easily distracted that I literally have 19 tabs open in 2 different browsers. I even downloaded a third browser “just in case.” Anyway, back to the point…

As you’ve probably heard by now, Nashville has suffered a catastrophic flood. BopStarBaby’s headquarters are high on a hill overlooking the city, so we’ve escaped the disaster that has engulfed so many of our neighbors. The effort to recover began almost immediately, with enormous crews of volunteers rescuing and sheltering those who’ve lost everything. Thanks to the BabyMakes3 baskets we’ve been sending to all our favorite celebrities, we’ve been getting the sweetest thank-you notes here at BopStarBaby. First it was Jenna Elfman, star of Accidentally on Purpose. Next, it was Noelle & Dick Wolf, the creator/producer of Law & Order, who were both excited about the Dropper Stopper™ and Sassy® developmental toys. Last, but by no means least, Maria and Joseph Fiennes wrote to rave about Sassy®, No Slippy Hair Clippy® and BabyLegs® (accidently ID’d as Trumpette)! It’s wonderful to hear from people as excited as we are about these products.
