If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound? You’ll never know. The same is true if you develop a product. If you don’t share it with the media, nobody will know about it.
It takes a lot of time and energy to develop a new product but even more effort must go into bringing it to market and growing sales. The media can be a powerful tool to significantly help raise awareness of a new product or service which in turn can generate new sales and distribution opportunities. Advertising might guarantee placement in a particular media outlet (using your exact words) but a review by a reporter creates third-party credibility that can be far more influential to a potential consumer.
However, a reporter isn’t going to write about your product unless you tell them about it first. It’s time to spread the word.
