CPSC's Extends Existing Stay of Enforcement on Testing and Certifications of Total Lead Content

Here is a link (http://www.cpsc.gov/businfo/frnotices/fr11/stayleadrev.pdf) to the Federal Register Notice announcing the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s (CPSC) decision to extend the existing stay of enforcement on testing and certifications of the total lead content in children’s products (except for metal components of children’s metal jewelry) until December 31, 2011.

CPSC's Publicly Available Consumer Product Safety Information Database

CPSC is in the process of notifying manufactures of the Database and encouraging them to “register” a company representative who will receive information about complaints pertaining to their company’s products. I strongly encourage each of you to nominate and register such an individual so that you will have an opportunity to timely respond to any published complaint.

Sozo: Created by a Mother and Father of Invention

Sean and Tracie Gildea realized they needed to take matters into their own hands when shopping for their baby boy’s room left them uninspired. Despite a diligent search, the couple was disappointed by the limited selection of children’s bedding they saw in stores. “Most of what we found was either dull or too sophisticated,” Sean recalls, “when a baby should be about being whimsical and fun.” And so, like the old saying goes, necessity truly is the mother of invention. The void the Gildeas found in the marketplace inspired the pair to launch Sozo, a charming collection of colorful clothes, blankets, sleepwear and accessories.
