It is always inspiring to see the birth of new companies, but especially when our economy is struggling. In a time when it seems we are seeing more companies closing their doors, the birth of a new enterprise brings with it the anticipation of better things to come. Like a crocus that pushes up and blossoms through the cold snow after a harsh winter, Be{tween} Collection, The Tangerine Tree, coveRumps and Foamnasium are new companies that did indeed bloom, despite challenging times. It is the tenacity and spirit of these companies, three of which were started by women entrepreneurs, that lets us see something special… the promise of tomorrow.

Be{tween} Understands Fashion Transitions

Be{tween} Collection was created by a mother of two who felt that tweens were not given enough fashion options. This resourceful mom and her design team collaborated to create an incredibly soft and original line of clothing for girls to feel great in their clothes and about themselves. The team’s desire is that their creations will bridge the gap between children’s and young adults’ clothing.

Each garment is designed to either complement another piece, or be worn by itself. The debut collection features nine pieces designed to mix and match to create a multitude of outfit options in sizes 7-14. Future collections will be designed to be able to coordinate with pieces from the previous season’s collection, in an effort to help build a functional wardrobe. Be{tween} designs are created to be comfortable, as well as flattering for girls in a sometimes awkward age range.

The Happy Hoodie is a great addition to a young girl’s outfits, including what is already in her closet. The relaxed shoulder and feminine drawn-in waist has a ruffle that is reminiscent of the sweet clothing she used to wear, but with a cute edge to it that lets her look a little older. Happy Hoodie is made of Peruvian cotton, in fabric of light gray with white dots.

Do the Dress is sweet, with a little bit of edge featuring a more grown up type of ruffle. The cut flatters all types of girls as it fits well and is high quality. Perfect for the girl who wants to be comfortable and look beautiful at the same time, the dress can be worn by itself, with Lovem’ Leggins or paired with the Happy Hoodie. The dress is white with a floral print in pink, gray and orange, trimmed in gray.

Lovem’ Leggins are a far cry from ordinary leggings; these feature a comfortable thick waistband, incredibly soft fabric, quality construction and ruched ankle. Special attention was paid as to how these leggins should fit and feel. Leggins are a solid gray and can be worn under the Do the Dress, Skoot Around Skirt or by themselves.

The Skoot @ Skirt is the perfect choice for casual or dressy events. Girls will feel comfortable and stylish in this knee length, drop-waist skirt that can be worn with or without the Lovem’ Leggins. The skirt features floral fabric of pink and gray flowers with a tangerine center on a white background trimmed in gray.

Play in Paisley is the name of a tunic length top that is super comfy. The top features a rounded yoke, three-button closure, elastic armholes and asymmetrical length for fun. The gaucho print of paisleys in tangerine, gray and aqua against a white background is an exclusive Be{tween} designed fabric.

Giddy Gaucho is the name of this pant because of the reaction it receives. Featuring a fold-over waist and a great set of pockets, it is comfortable and cute. Pants are capri length with a raw finished edge for trimming, if so desired. Made of the same exclusive paisley print fabric as the Play in Paisley top, it’s girly and sophisticated at the same time.

The Tangerine Tree Offers Sweet Selections

Shefali Shirhatti comes from a family that has been in the garment manufacturing business for many years. Shefali’s research and interaction with the children’s clothing market showed her there was an opportunity for a fun, colorful children’s line in the organic segment of the market, and The Tangerine Tree was born. Soft organic cotton knits are the foundation of The Tangerine Tree Collection. The clothing is free from pesticides and harmful chemicals which reduces skin irritants, making it ideal for sensitive skin.

The line features soft t-shirt dresses with mermaid and under-the-sea artwork, and sleeveless ballerina dresses with mermaids or sandcastle designs. Included also are sweet A-line dresses with contrasting yoke detail, and soft, cool and comfortable t-shirts in solids, prints and stripes with sea side designs. Bubble rompers with contrasting pocket detail in prints or stripes, denim knit gaucho pants with mermaid artwork, cycle shorts, layered skirts and diaper covers round out the girl’s assortment.
