Tangerine Sky — Bright New Brand Takes Wing for Spring!

Bright Ideas, a flower-powerful group mixing denim and printed cotton/Lycra

One new brand generating a lot of buzz in the marketplace is Tangerine Sky, the creation of Jeff Dodge and his parents John and Judy Dodge. The new collection addresses what the Dodges see as an unmet need in the marketplace — fashionable yet age appropriate apparel for girls and their parents who are more discriminating than ever in their shopping habits. “Our research found that girls are developing a sense of style at a very early age,” said Jeff Dodge, Director of Sales and the new dad of a little girl. “Parents want to buy clothes that their little girls will love, and at the same time, they must feel sure that those purchases are a wise expenditure, given other priorities like saving for education.” The Dodge family also owns Globaltex LLC, a Taunton, MA-based company with more than 20 years of experience in the children’s apparel market.

Marguerite, a garden of dots and daisies in crinkled cotton
The Tangerine Sky collection for Spring/Summer 2010 includes woven and knit tops, dresses, skirts, tunics, leggings, shorts, jackets, sweaters and capri pants featuring soft, textured fabrics, surface treatments such as colored foil printing, crinkled cottons with dots of glitter and colorful prints. Carefully considered details include hand smocking, ruffles, embroidery, appliqués, butterfly printed ribbons as zipper pulls, butterfly-shaped studs, and flower-shaped buttons.

Pretty sun dresses and fun pieces are featured in each of six different print-themed lines. The prices are excellent given the high quality and special touches, such as linings. An eye-catcher is a navy and white, tiered dress from the Marguerite line — a print of dots and daises in crinkled cotton with a shimmery overprint paired with an adorable yellow French terry motorcycle jacket. Another favorite is a beautiful smocked dress from the Lil’ Butterfly line paired with a white crochet cardigan.

The Tangerine Sky collection will be sold in upscale children’s specialty stores and boutiques beginning Spring 2010, in sizes 2T – 10 with some availability in infant sizes. Suggested retail prices range from $20 to $60.

Tangerine Sky’s Butterfly Logo Represents Limitless Possibilities

The Tangerine Sky name and logo of a butterfly taking flight underscore the limitless possibilities the collection represents, and they are part of a full branding effort. In fact, Tangerine Sky showcased stand-out branding at the August ENK Children’s Club — something that is increasingly important as retailers strive to move away from competing on price and look to new sources to drive differentiation, innovation and consumers through their doors. The Dodge family is excited about their “new baby” in children’s fashion. Find out more about the collection at www.tangerineskycollection.com.
