Melanie Anderson is first an artist; she began the koochi ku line to create wearable pieces of art. With an eye toward European style, her pieces are well crafted, beautiful, and affordable. Inspired by the birth of her son, she followed her passion for vibrant colors and began making high-style wool jackets and accessories for children. Melanie individually designs and creates each item, and takes great personal pride in each article carrying the koochi ku label.

These jazzy jackets are 100% boiled wool, giving them a soft and breathable feel that is warm, water repellent, and wind resistant. Ignoring the common thought that wool and hot water don’t mix, koochi ku has created a boiled wool that retains the benefits of knit wool, but adds ventilation and softness.

While the fabric itself is the highest quality, it is the bold patterns and color displays that make this line stand out. Each pattern, from pink ginger to red stroke, incorporates multiple high-intensity colors and accents. Boys’ and girls’ outerwear is available in a structured barn jacket and the girls’ line of coats also includes an attractive A-line jacket and vest. All items are reversible, adding to their versatility and durability.

Girls’ A-line jackets and vests are accented with bright faux shag fur around the collar and arms, lending the perfect touch of glamorous style. The striking barn jacket is offset with contrasting corduroy and tweed, in sophisticated, contemporary designs that command attention. The reversed side of the jacket offers more subdued designs for additional versatility in style.

Children’s jackets are available in sizes 2/3, 4/5, 6/7, and up to 8/9 for the girls’ A-line vest. Jackets retail for $128 to $185. The entire koochi ku line is locally designed and manufactured throughout the Northeast.
