The ABCs of Making Greeting Cards from Letter Learning
Along with a new school year come new challenges for children and sometimes, frustration. The best teachers use innovative tools to help kids learn more easily. As an experienced teacher and new mom on maternity leave with a pile of Thank You cards to write, Ellen Richard was inspired to create a business to help children, called Letter Learning. While thinking about learning exercises to help children learn how to read, write and spell correctly, she had the idea that by making their own greeting cards, kids can learn while having some creative fun. As a bonus, the cards make wonderful keepsakes for grandmas! Each card is pre-written in traceable lettering, the same lettering used in schools to teach letter formation. Children complete the cards by tracing over the letters: an important exercise which helps kids practice writing, and reinforces important literary skills. Each card includes a blank space for the recipient and child’s name, as well as some blank space for an original drawing from the child. The greetings feature original color graphics.
Parents love this easy way to teach their children the importance of writing Thank You cards and sending Birthday greetings. A variety of special occasions can be personalized by children of all ages. Simple wording and large font make these cards appropriate for every early-learning skill level. Cards are available for most events, including Mother’s Day, birthdays, Father’s Day, Christmas, and Just Because.
A terrific new line of Math-Tastic cards includes the traceable letters and incorporates a fun color-by-number activity. Kids have to solve simple addition and subtraction problems to decode the puzzle and color in the graphic on the greeting.
