Mindtwister Games are Smart Fun for Families

Mindtwister USA works to play a part in the importance of family game nights. Its initial game, Pentago, originated in Sweden. Two professional skateboarders thought the unique game would also be popular in the United States. They formed Mindtwister and introduced Pentago to the U.S. in 2006. By 2011, they had sold over one million games worldwide.

With Pentago as its base, Mindtwister USA has expanded to include an entire line of original games and toys. The company is rooted in the idea that playing fun games is essential to strong relationships with our family and friends. Most games are designed for all ages and encourage group play.

Multi-player Pentago is like a ramped-up version of tic-tac-toe, which makes it a perfect game to be played by all ages. The gray board is divided into nine separate panels, each with nine placeholders. The goal is to use colorful game markers to create a row of five in any direction; the first one wins! Strategy and competition are increased by a simple rule: at each turn the player must place a marker, then rotate one of the panels –– changing the overall layout of the board. It’s a simple game that kids can easily play independently, and it also teaches logic and problem-solving skills. Two to four players can play Pentago Multi Player, and players can team up to include more.

The first official Pentago tournament was held in 2011 at Gen Con in Indianapolis. The 2012 champion was just crowned in August and besides bragging rights, he also won $2,000. The tournament is held at the conference every year and is open to all ages.

Mindtwister USA’s lineup of games is all about simple rules and high strategy. Quadrago is similar to Pentago, only the board has vertical posts instead of a flat surface; beads are placed to create a row of four, similar to Connect The Dots, with the same twist where the board itself is moved at every turn.

Ponder is an original game in which players try to get their frogs from one side of the pond to the other through the use of movement cards and lily pads that are used to move and impede other players. The skills in this game are equated to a simpler version of chess.

Mindtwister USA games are challenging, fun and welcome additions to family game night. It’s your turn to play at www.mindtwisterusa.com
