Hartford Sports Vintage Looks for Kids
Hartford was the brain child of Yves Chareton and born in New York City in 1979. Chareton had a vision to recreate the 40s and 50s vintage shirts he found in the flea markets in Porte de Clignancourt in Paris in the late 60s. The button down shirts in faded plaids, bright colored oxfords, chambray work shirts and western shirts in raw denim were his inspiration, and it was contagious when he found a manufacturer who shared the same vision. The initial launch of a line of vintage inspired shirts was an immediate success, with customers like Bruce Springsteen ordering dozens of shirts to wear in concert.
It was not long before the Hartford name became synonymous with quality fabrics, rich colors and above all authenticity. Hartford grew to create a complete menswear line, then in 2000 expanded again to include a vintage-inspired beachwear collection, a women’s clothing line, and finally a children’s clothing collection. The common thread is that all the lines share the enduring philosophy upon which the Hartford label was built.
The Hartford Children’s Collection is for kids, tweens and teens ages 2-14 and features classic, comfortable designs. The Paul shirt is a red, green and off white plaid 100% cotton with long sleeves and a wide cut to the classic buttonhole front that features two chest pockets. Long-sleeved, comfy t-shirts feature the company logo and bright colors, perfect for mixing and matching or wearing under one of the button-down shirts. The Valigny Coat is a pretty, straight coat with long sleeves that closes with four snaps, has two front pockets and features a thin braided leather belt. Mao colored Henley shirts are available in classic colors and are a great kid’s wardrobe staple. The round neck pullover sweaters with ribbed neckline, sleeves and waist provide warmth with style. The dark gray wool Muguet waistcoat has semi-long sleeves, round neckline, ribbed collar, sleeves and waist with a classic buttonhole closing in the back. A perfect accent to the Muguet waistcoat would be the bright red and beige polkadot Amalfi scarf in a soft wool with fringed edges.
