Cindy Cohn understands how much one meaningful gift can affect someone’s life. When she was 11 years old, Cindy received a gift of a shirt with her name spelled out in cute, colorful characters across the front. It quickly became one of her favorite possessions. Decades later, she still owns that shirt, and cites it as the inspiration for her company, Poseys People in Poses.

The company, casually known as Poseys, offers a wide selection of keepsake apparel and accessories with unique, personalized touches. These T-shirts, pullover shirts, pillow cases and canvas bags are meant to reflect the hobbies and interests of the owner whether it happens to be dance, football, cheer-leading, gymnastics or anything else. Customers can personalize with their initials, the name of their sport of choice, or other short phrase.

One look at these items will show that they’re not like other monogrammed products. Each letter of the words on Posey products are made up of people in various poses (sitting, jumping, cartwheeling, etc.). They’re great gift choices for birthdays, holidays, and “just because”. The company also offers Takeout Tees, which are theme tees in a clear Chinese takeout box, as well as autograph and activity pillowcases both of which come ready to be signed or decorated with fabric-safe pens. Founder Cindy Cohn’s 18 years of experience in the gift industry shines through in these products. Growing up in New York City, her family was part of the garment industry. When she grew up and got married, she moved out of the city and decided to open her own gift shop. She found she received multiple requests for children’s items that were personalized for names and interests, so she decided to start her own line. She works with artist Cara London to create the whimsical, multicultural “people in poses” that make up every letter of every word on their items. All items are hand-drawn to maintain a genuine, artistic appearance, and are later converted by a graphic artist to be suitable for digital printing.
