Plum Pudding Is Ready to Serve Up New Fashions

Everybody likes to hear inspirational stories about a small business owner’s rise to success. An everyday Joe or Jane has an idea that turns into a full-fledged enterprise with thousands if not millions of units sold each year. The photo accompanying a typical article of this genre usually shows a smiling business owner standing in their home or store looking comfortable and in control. It’s all so polished and easy.

While these upbeat overviews make readers feel good, they often don’t tell the whole story of the climb to the top, which can include failed prototypes, brutal schedules, financial difficulties, and all the other not-so-pretty aspects of being a new business owner. Sometimes, an entrepreneur finds that her business has become dormant and needs a complete re-start. That was the case for the owner of children’s clothing company Plum Pudding.

Plum Pudding is a California-based maker of fashions for girls. Their pieces are fresh in the girls’ clothing market because they don’t rely on sparkles, bows, and lace to draw attention to themselves. Instead, the brand uses high-quality cuts in eye-catching solids and color-block styles to showcase its classy contemporary style. The label was established in 1985 and experienced steady growth over the years that followed.

Unfortunately, the brand hit a roadblock in 2010 when founder Greta Marks, the design and creative director, fell ill. High demand for product continued to rush in, however, with the team shorthanded and the visionary leader battling her illness, the company could not meet this demand. The founders made a strategic decision to decrease the brand’s footprint in order to preserve the health and wellness for both Greta and for the company.

“When Greta was diagnosed we had to make a decision, whether to move forward or step back. Ultimately, we stepped back. Three years later, Greta has recovered and it is time for the company to make a recovery too. Now with a strong team behind us and our healthy visionary on board, we are more enthusiastic than ever to bring our brands back to life,” reports Kathleen Doyle

The founders are excited to announce Plum Pudding Ltd’s re-launch with a fresh perspective and an inspired outlook on life. The company has aligned itself with a strategic financial partner and has already exhibited at ENK’s Children’s Club in New York City and markets across the U.S.A.
