Morgan Cycle Is on a Roll
Every summer, millions of kids take to America’s streets and sidewalks on wheels of all kinds. Bicycles are of course the most common ride-on toy for kids, but there’s also trikes, footies (cars and other toys powered by the feet, Flintstone-style) and pedal cars. The wagon will always be a classic, but its more adventurous cousin, the bike trailer, has been making frequent appearances of late. Whatever the mode of wheeled transportation, it has lots of benefits for the rider. Wagons and footie cars are usually a young child’s first introduction to wheeled transport, and they help open the door for all kinds of imaginative and physical play. Tricycles and bikes with training wheels allow children to develop important coordination skills that will eventually help them graduate to two wheelers. Bike trailers give parents a great workout while letting little kids chill out in style. There’s nothing like the freedom and exhilaration a bike can bring, and while fashion isn’t everything, having a high-quality bike (or other wheeled ride-on) definitely adds to the biking experience, making it safer and more enjoyable.
Morgan Cycle is one of our country’s premier makers of bikes, trikes and other wheeled toys. Founded 20 years ago by bicycle engineer Sylvester Yen, the company prides itself on its fine craftsmanship. Yen noticed that at the time his company was founded, more and more bike makers were trying to make a fast profit by cranking out large numbers of low quality bikes. Yen’s pioneer spirit led him in exactly the opposite direction, back to the classic styles of the 1930’s.
Yen felt that parents would be eager to invest in a solid, safe bike rather than taking their chances with mass produced, lower quality versions. One of his biggest inspirations was Harold Van Doren, an engineer and designer who created successful products for well known companies like Philco, Westinghouse, and Maytag. Yen decided that the “simple solidity” of Van Doren’s appliance designs would translate beautifully to bikes, and he set out to make his dream come true.
That dream includes safe, attractive and high-performing bicycles, tricycles, footies and wagons in a wide range of colors and designs. All the products have a sleek, shiny retro look that never goes out of style. The company also offers a child size wheelbarrow and garden tool set, for those kids who prefer to hang out in the back yard rather than pedal all over town.See the full line at www.morgancycle.com
