Michele Keeler is Style Times Three

Michele Keeler is a triple threat in the design world, creating clothing, shoes, and items for the home. This is quite the impressive resumé for someone who became a professional designer by “accident.” It was 1996 and Michele was a single mom of two young children. Like many moms, especially those living on a single income, she faced the challenge of keeping her little ones in clothing that looked good and fit them well. Luckily, she had sewing skills and a good eye for fashion, so making clothing for her kids wasn’t just a task to endure, but a pursuit that made her happy.

As someone with a love of fashion, Michele would sometimes go window shopping at stores that carried brands she liked. Once, on an outing to see the latest pieces at Fred Segal, a store manager happened to notice the hat Michele’s daughter was wearing. Upon learning that Michele had made the hat herself, the manager encouraged her to contact a sales representative. This ended up being a life-changing opportunity for Michele, starting her on the path to the business she runs today.

The company’s children’s division, Baby YaYa, sells light, breezy clothing made of 100% organic cotton and natural dyes. Available are baby sacks, diaper covers, dresses, hoodies, towels and pants. Keeler is inspired by Turkish textiles, and it shows in her choice of materials as well as in her aesthetic philosophy. The pieces feature bright, hand-embroidered designs of owls, flowers, butterflies, and other nature-inspired themes. Perfect for beach outings and other warm-weather fun, Keeler’s clothing has the look of authentic artisan textiles from somewhere warm, sunny and exotic.

If a customer likes the children’s clothing from Keeler’s collection, they may also want to buy some matching shoes from her Yabi children’s footwear brand. These high-quality leather shoes are soft and gentle on little feet and go perfectly with the clothing in the Baby YaYa collection. For example, pair a floral print baby dress with a pair of the red Turkish leather sandals. To make a day at the beach complete, add a multi-color bath sheet from the Michele Keeler Home collection. These luxurious towels look a lot like throw rugs, but are soft and absorbent.
