Cheer up Kermit! When it comes to products for babies and children, it’s easier than ever to be “green”. Today’s companies are paying close attention to safety concerns and parental demands, and are producing a wide variety of environmentally-conscious products. As we get ready to celebrate Earth Day this month, The Giggle Guide® is featuring brands that make going green a walk in the park. Happy Heinys, BabyGanics, Cotton Monkey, Sofi & Liv, and Mary Meyer are fantastic companies whose products are designed to be kind to both babies and the environment.

The Giggle Guide® asked 26 moms “Are there certain types of children’s products you’re willing to pay a premium for?” When it comes to the welfare of their children, it is not surprising that most moms will invest more on products that ensure their kids’ health, safety, comfort and education. Quality and durability are also worth a premium. It is interesting that there is one product category in particular moms don’t want to skimp on — what do you think that is?

Plush stuffed toys are perfect for cuddling, snuggling and providing a touch of security for children at home and away. As children grow into toddlers and preschoolers, however, they often gravitate toward larger stuffed toys. Life-sized plush toys are great for snuggling, but they take up a lot of room and are hard to carry on overnight trips to Grandma’s. The Giggle Guide® has found a solution! Meet Bubby, My Inflatable Buddy.

Bandz are a new accessory craze catching on fast with tweens. They are rubber band-like bracelets, made of silicone and neoprene, available in several brands, shapes and colors. The versatile bandz are perfect for wearing, trading, collecting, stretching, twisting and making a fashion statement. After being twisted, they spring back to their original shape. Bandz are available in packets of themed animals and fun shapes. Check out this trio of bendable bandz that kids find “irre-wristable”: Funkibanz™, Zanybandz™, and SillyBandz.

I am so excited about our new Tent in a Bag. We have made tents at the park, beach, in hotels, and when the girls were little they were completely obsessed with “stroller forts.”

Remember how we used to pile stacks of books onto heavy blankets and try to make tents at home? NO MORE! Grab our Spring Bean clamps and attach the material to beds, chairs, tables, or even park benches and tree branches. Carabean the cute little bag onto the stroller and head out for some summer fun.

They are here, just in time for Spring!

Our new Tent in a Bag is the perfect little companion for airport or hotel tents, keeping the sun out of little eyes in the stroller, and making forts at home! Each kit comes with a unique piece of recycled, vintage or new tent material, 4 Spring Bean clamps, and a cute little bag to tote it around. Why not clip it on the stroller with a Carabean and make a tent at the park? Fabulous!

Children love having their independence, usually sooner than parents want them to have it! Riding a bike is an activity that young children want to master, but it takes time and patience. Tricycles and Big Wheels are alternatives for younger children, but they usually don’t offer parental control. Thanks to Alex Toys, Little Tikes and Fisher-Price, there are new options that efficiently transition children’s wheeled-adventures, allowing grown-ups to supervise with ease. Try this trifecta of trikes to become a big wheel in your retail neighborhood!

After a long winter cooped up indoors, children are eager to head outside for some fun outdoor adventures. It’s time to get up, get out and get growing! Gardening is a great activity for children, and we’ve found some apparel and products that make it easy for kids to get down and dirty while planting seeds and coaxing those new vegetables and flowers to life. Spring into action and cultivate sales with Foxfire for Kids, !iT Jeans, Schylling, and Radio Flyer!

Growing up in a family of nine children, JC and Reid Smoot took mental notes as their seven other siblings geared up for a family road trip. Each child would bring their favorite stuffed animal to cuddle, a pillow to rest their head on and a blanket to keep warm. Years later, JC and Reid capitalized on their siblings’ packing techniques to create Zoobie pets, the ideal travel companion. Zoobies, as they are affectionately known, are all-in-one cuddly-soft stuffed animals and plush pillows.
