K.I.D.S. President Janice Weinman Receives Lifetime Achievement Award and Inducted into Hall of Fame

New York, N.Y., October 6, 2011 – Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. (K.I.D.S.) today announced that United Legwear Company, LLC pledged to donate 100,000 pairs of new socks to K.I.D.S. to help children in need. The pledge was announced in a spontaneous gesture of giving back by United Legwear’s CEO Mr. Isaac Ash, at Earnshaw Magazine’s 34th Annual Earnie Awards on Monday evening.

Serving Up Kentucky Hospitality

Attendees at the 9th Annual ABC Kids Expo® will have no excuse to go hungry thanks to Centerplate, one of the largest hospitality companies in the world and the official concessions contractor for the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville.

Doug Simmonds, Centerplate’s general manager, promises that there will be plenty of “food for every budget — from $2.50 hot dogs at concession stands to a $14.95 all-you-can-eat buffet on the mezzanine level with table cloths and china.”

Designer Sample Sale to Benefit K.I.D.S. Japan Earthquake Relief

Playtime New York, the international trade show dedicated to the universes of children, junior and maternity, is again hosting a Pop Up Shop during the show, July 30 – August 1, 2011, at SoHo’s 82 Mercer. This season, entitled “Playtime Loves Japan,” 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit Kids in Distressed Situations (K.I.D.S.) Japan Earthquake Relief.

The Unexpected Boys to Open ABC Kids Expo Concert

ABC Kids Expo® has announced that world-famous KC and the Sunshine Band will be performing in concert following the attendee reception on Saturday, September 24, 2011.

The reception will begin immediately after the tradeshow closes for the day at 6:00PM. The opening act, The Unexpected Boys, will take the stage at 7:00PM, and KC and The Sunshine Band will perform at 7:45PM.

ABC Expo Partners with Production Transport

ABC Kids Expo® has partnered with Production Transport, an industry leader in event transportation services, to provide complimentary shuttle service for ABC attendees during the 9th annual ABC Kids Expo on September 23-26.

Five shuttle routes will run between the Kentucky Expo Center and the ABC block hotels beginning on Thursday afternoon, September 22 for the New Product Showcase Reception, then daily through Monday, September 26. A complimentary airport shuttle from the Expo Center to the Louisville airport will be available on Monday afternoon.
