NY International Gift Fair Selects K.I.D.S as Charity of Choice

Global Charity to Receive All Exhibitors’ Excess Inventory to Benefit Children and Families in Need

New York, N.Y., August 11, 2011 - Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc. (K.I.D.S.) today announced that it has been named the charity of choice of the NY International Gift Fair (NYIGF) August 13-18, 2011. In this capacity, K.I.D.S. will be the recipient of all remaining inventory from the 2,800 exhibiting companies at the Pier and Javits Center, showcasing the top lines across the home, lifestyle and gift categories.

K.I.D.S. will have over 50 volunteers participating in the collection of products, which it will then donate to children and families in need as part of its commitment to support those struggling with poverty, challenging life circumstances such as illness, the absence of a parent fighting overseas or domestic abuse. K.I.D.S. will distribute the merchandise to local agencies including Bed Stuy Campaign Against Hunger, Episcopal Social Services, New Creative Community, Child Abuse Prevention Program, Community Center of Immigrants, Alianza Dominicana, and Children of Promise.

“K.I.D.S. is very pleased to be able to expand its role this year at the NYIGF. We are grateful to George Little Management for their confidence in us and their partnership with helping New York families, who so badly need home goods and other merchandise to help them handle the difficult lives they face,” said Janice Weinman, President of K.I.D.S.

Drawing 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and 85 countries, the NYIGF is produced twice annually by GLM::dmg world media. K.I.D.S. had previously served as the recipient of product from the Baby & Child division of the NYGIF show, which presents 150 resources of functional and fun products for babies, toddlers, kids and their families, including toys, apparel, accessories, furnishings, gear and juvenile decor.

“We are delighted to work with K.I.D.S., helping children in need while relieving our exhibitors of excess inventory and product samples. Our experience with K.I.D.S. during the winter market was positively received and we are delighted to expand our cooperation with them this summer,” said Dorothy Belshaw, NYIGF director and GLM senior vice president. . .
