Janey Baby by Jane Goodall Supports Hope for Animals

It’s not just tree huggers that want innovative organic gifts for new “little monkeys”. So, why not offer one from the expert? After all, who of us doesn’t remember a youthful Jane Goodall kissing the chimps she had lived amongst and called family? She is an inspiration to many and a wonder to animal lovers.

While it isn’t the real thing, the soft organic crib bedding and accessories from Janey Baby by Jane Goodall™ offer a reminder of what it’s like to get back to nature. Janey Baby by Jane Goodall debuted in October and features a crib mattress pad, sheets, receiving blankets, bibs and contoured changing-table covers. The products feature whimsical drawings of endangered species discussed in Dr. Goodall’s book, Hope for Animals and Their World. Species in the book include the American Crocodile, the California Condor and the Black-Footed Ferret. (Definitely not your average bear in bedding!) Award-winning illustrator Patrick McDonnell donated the drawings as a contribution to the Jane Goodall Institute.

Janey Baby by Jane Goodall™ is a collaboration between Fiberlinks Textiles, a qualified organic cotton supplier and The Jane Goodall Institute founded by world-renowned primatologist and UN Messenger of Peace, Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE. Fiberlinks Textiles already has a reputation in the organic baby world from its other organic cotton bedding collections, and full line of waterproof and absorbent mattress and protection pads, as well as a line of eco-friendly reusable bags with custom designs and logos.

All Janey Baby by Jane Goodall™ products from Fiberlinks Textiles are certified OE100 organic by Control Union Certificates, a third-party auditing organization. The audit and certification assure both retailers and consumers of the extra measures taken to verify authenticity on the products, which are gentle on baby’s skin and can also be marketed to parents with sensitive-skinned babies or those prone to allergies.

Let’s face it: you can’t get any greener than that. And yet, you do. A nonprofit group called Organic Exchange will set the standards for the production and processing of the Janey Baby products, from seed to finished product. Doing good never looked so cute!

Proceeds from the products will help support the Institute. Founded in 1977, the Jane Goodall Institute continues Dr. Goodall’s pioneering research on chimpanzee behavior — research that transformed scientific perceptions of the relationship between humans and animals. Today, the Institute is a global leader in the effort to protect chimpanzees and their habitats.

It also is widely recognized for establishing innovative community-centered conservation and development programs in Africa, and Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots. The Roots & Shoots program is about making positive change happen — for our communities, for animals and for the environment. With hundreds of thousands of young people in more than 120 countries, the Roots & Shoots network connects youth who share a desire to create a better world. Through service projects, campaigns, inspiring events and an interactive website, Roots & Shoots is helping youth create a hopeful tomorrow.

We should all feel good about purchasing eco-friendly products that meet our immediate needs as well as help our planet on a more global basis,” said Frank Dres, president and co-founder of Fiberlinks Textiles. “That is why our support of the Jane Goodall Institute, and our introduction of Janey Baby by Jane Goodall, are so exciting for us.”
