It’s Good to Know … Brooke Showell
I met Brooke Showell in 2003 when she took over as the “Small World” editor at Earnshaw’s. I do not like change, and I thought I would have to “take her under my wing,” show her the ropes and help her learn about the juvenile product and baby biz. I am pleased to admit that Brooke quickly proved me wrong as she flew on her own from day one.
I was with Brooke at her first ABC show in Las Vegas. We visited a few booths together, then went our separate ways until we met later to compare notes. At the biggest juvenile product show in the country, Brooke caught on faster than anyone I had ever worked with before. She passed the cub reporter stage completely and was a savvy, smart, insightful, professional editor that had both a keen wit and eye for what was hot and fun(ny) in the baby business. Most impressive to me was that she remembered names, brands, and new products instantly. She was a natural and everyone loved her.
Brooke and I Love The Nap Cap
Plus, we laughed together … a lot! We shared the same “laugh-till-we-cried” reaction at some of the crazy new products we saw over the years. Just ask Brooke sometime about the Nap Cap!
Brooke and I were a great team for several years at Earnshaw’s, as we were the go-to duo for all things having to do with baby products. Brooke moved on as an editor at Urban Baby, and Senior Feature Editor at Elegant Bride.
Brooke Knows All About Babies and Brides
Brooke knows way more about wedding products than baby products, and that is saying a lot. Her passion was always the wedding market. She really should have covered “love and marriage” before the “baby carriage” in her editorial career. Now the marriage biz and Brooke “go together like a horse and carriage” with the launch of Chantilly, a new wedding Web site, www.chantillyonline.com, dedicated to blissful bridal style, beauty, travel and products. Brooke co-founded Chantilly with Nicole Yee (a “good-to-know” fashion editor I also met at Earnshaw’s).
Brooke is a Lifestyle Journalist in NYC
Brooke is also a freelance journalist specializing in a variety of lifestyle topics, including weddings, babies and kids, travel and health & fitness. For those of you that remember Brooke from UrbanBaby, and Earnshaw’s, you know that she would do great work on any of your PR or writing projects. For all others, it’s good to know that she’s available when you need help spreading the good news about your business.
