Reading Comes Alive with 3D

Show off the newest, coolest entry in the world of reading and watch your shoppers grab up these books! Popar Books offer an interactive reading experience that let kids see 3D objects and animations pop off the page. Even readers who need a little cajoling thrill to seeing butterflies fly smack into their faces or caterpillars slithering across the desert and off the computer screen complete with special sound effects.

Popar Books, created by Digital Tech Frontier, are designed to change the way children interact and experience stories, adventure and learning. The technique, Augmented Reality, bridges the gap between digital technologies like video games and traditional reading formats, as in standard books. The first three books in the group are Planets 3D, Bugs 3D and Construction Machines 3D.

It’s “3,2,1 blast off” when young readers launch into Planets 3D, featuring an interactive exploration throughout the solar system as planets, shuttles, space probes, rovers, and moons leap from the pages.

In Bugs 3D, readers embark on an interactive exploration with tarantulas, scorpions, fireflies, lady bugs, centipedes, and grasshoppers taking wing.

Kids who love machines will be fascinated by the bulldozers, excavators, cranes, backhoes, and giant dump trucks that literally come alive in Construction Machines 3D.

Popar™ Be It transforms kid avatars into their favorite virtual Popar book characters with a magic costume closet loaded with heads, wings, jet packs and planet heads. Kids can make a viral video or snap a crazy photo to share with friends on social media.

Popar Kits, built around the same topics as the books, include a 36-page illustrated hard cover book, eleven-3D interactive learning cards, a costume card to become one of many book characters, the 3D interactive software and more.

The concept uses Augmented Reality a new, highly sophisticated technology that shakes up the reading experience. The concept employs a webcam, a computer and special black and white patterned markers, and works on both a PC and Mac. Webcams are free with the purchase of a Popar book.

Research shows that children retain information in different ways. Popar Books support all three major learning styles: a physical book for visual learners; 3D animations in Augmented Reality for kinesthetic learners; and the engaging “read along” feature for auditory learners.

Kids have an engaging time with Popar books and learn while playing. The books provide hours of quality entertainment as readers take away something new each time they read. Future titles include Desert Animals, Planes Trains & Automobiles, Wonders of the World, Greek Gods, Mythical Creatures, Dinosaurs, Sea Life and Animal Safari.

Numerous educators praise the books that encourage young students to read, write, speak and listen with words and technology and still enjoy the priceless experience of holding a book in their hands. The books have even inspired a ton of “thank you” letters from kids who needed to express the fun they had reading and learning. No wonder this innovative product was named “Best of Toy Fair 2012!”
