Schoolbags for Kids
Main Profile
Launched in July 2011, Schoolbags for Kids, founded by Kalon Gutierrez and Luis Garcia, is built upon a One Here. One There.® mission. With over 25 years of experience in design, technology and branding, they’re bringing together social entrepreneurship and high-end design to the children’s market. For every backpack purchased, a schoolbag with school supplies will go to a child in need. To date, they’ve delivered schoolbags to students in Belize, India and Thailand with plans to send bags to Korea and the Philippines next.
This spring and summer, they’re introducing two new lines – The Artist Series and The Fuzzy Flyers – to the original Signature Collection.
• The Signature Collection: This backpack features a unique horizontal design that keeps supplies within easy reach. The cover flap pocket opens to a main compartment with plenty of space for books, binders and notebooks. A padded computer sleeve protects a laptop. Three interior organizer pockets hold small necessities like pencils, pens, crayons and an mp3 player. (Medium size available in June, 2012)
• The Artist Series : A frequent illustrator for RollingStone Magazine and The Atlantic, Jacob Thomas partnered with Schoolbags for Kids to create “The Learning Tree” design as wearable art for kids. Thomas was chosen as the premiere artist in the series because of his approachable yet urban designs and more importantly, because of his commitment and passion for education.
• The Fuzzy Flyers: Schoolbags for Kids introduces the Fuzzy Flyers Series! High-quality and right-sized for little ones, these backpacks are perfect accessories to young imaginations. The Butterflyer, Dragonflyer, and Miss Ladybug round out our first collection. Large enough for a snack, sweater or blanket, these backpacks bring daily dreams to the hearts and minds of our favorite kids! (Ages 2-4)
