Children's Club - New York, New York (10/4/09 - 10/6/09)

The new 2010 Spring/Summer collections are out, and here at the The Giggle Guide® we’ve fallen head over heels for many of the new products introduced at the latest ENK International Children’s Club! The show floor overflowed with delightful contributions from innovative companies like 3 Sprouts, Moo Boo, and cachcach to name just a few. We’d like to share our enthusiasm by offering the following photos, straight from New York, for your viewing pleasure.

Lately we’ve been trying to create new ways to have our designs on colored clothes instead of just our traditional white garments. We’ve been experimenting for a couple weeks now and we might have finally reached the final result!

Our frames by Posh Pics are original and made in the USA. The creative process begins with a splash of paint, random crackling and all over distressing. We go a little crazy with bows, metal crosses and fleur de lis, swarovski crystals and some bling here and there. Whether the frame you chose has some or all of these applications, the end result is a stylish, one-of-a-kind hand made piece. It’s perfect to enhance your photograph.

Children's Club - New York, New York (8/2/09 - 8/4/09)

Children’s Club, representing the hottest trends in children’s fashion for Spring/Summer 2010, opened on Sunday at Pier 94 in New York City. As I made my way around the spacious show floor, I was thrilled to see that several exciting new companies have recently joined the Children’s Industry. I was also happily surprised to see quite a few established and loved icons returning to exhibit at Children’s Club after many years of absence. Here is a peek at some of the exhibitors participating in the show. A full show report will soon follow!

Traveling can cause jet lag. But traveling with kids may cause “kid lag,” resulting in pure exhaustion. However, vacation-bound Moms and Dads can breathe a sigh of relief because The Giggle Guide™ has found some products for travel that make getting on-the-go more fun and stylish! For the best in arrivals and departures, we found just the ticket with these baggage handlers: Dante Beatrix, Room It Up, Sassafras, TrendyKid and Faith Knight.

A growing concern for many parents and caregivers are the chemicals, such as BPA, that are found in many plastic children’s products. Such chemicals have been found to leech out of the plastics and cause a wide range of health problems when children are exposed to them over long periods of time. In response, there is a fast growing market of new products offering safe alternatives to plastics.

New products, many designed by concerned parents, are being produced to meet a growing demand. The Green Scene presents three companies that make safer new products for both children and our world: Silikids, Kid Konseve and SIGG.

Seven years and seven children ago, Amy McCoy started selling cloth diapers online to help save on family expenses. Guess the change did her good. The online venture has grown to become a successful resource for gift-givers looking for quality, convenience, variety and value. Retailing is definitely not just for brick-and-mortor stores any more. Amy shares her gifts, insights and efforts to juggle a big family and big business!

I recently was commissioned by some clients from Dallas to create some art for their kids playroom. I actually did about four pieces for them, but stupidly forgot to take pictures of everything. But I luckily did take a photo of the biggest. The painting above was 4 feet x 4 feet (HUGE)…seriously it was big. They basically loved my Raining Mister Elephant painting but wanted more characters and really wanted the African amazon feel with trees and such.

I added monkeys and a funky orange giraffe. And a deep rich blue striped zebra for fun.

Remember a week or so back when I had donated a painting to charity similar to this one. Well, I had a customer see it who completely fell in love with it, but it was already donated and already purchased by the lucky bidder. So then I offered to create one that was similar but I added another planet to make it completely her own. And the result is the one above. It turned out amazing, and Denise my new customer loved it. And her son, who is ever so cute and pictured below, seems to love it as well.

Her artistic vision is one of “simple design,” but her business savvy and creativity run deep. Discover the beauty of this artist, mom and entrepreneur who is the picture of art appreciation.
