The ABC Kids Expo: Hello, Las Vegas!
A city of slots and sequins, Las Vegas is not normally associated with babies, but next week the dancers and debutantes better step aside; the diaper crowd is moving in! One of Trade Show Week’s 200 largest shows, ABC (All Baby & Child) Kids Expo 2010 requires no poker face — every single exhibitor will have traveled to the fine state of Nevada with a simple intention: to lay their cards on the table and wait for someone, in a manner of speaking, to play.
The ABC Kids Expo was established back in March 2003. The primary goal of the event is to facilitate communication between buyers, sellers, manufacturers and representatives in the juvenile products industry. With over one thousand exhibits and twelve separate categories of products, it’s a safe bet the ABC Kids Expo will not disappoint.
Despite the hundreds of companies exhibiting their hard work, The Giggle Guide® has the skinny on four revolutionary product lines: bare2britches™, Mayron’s Goods®, Cool Gel ‘n Cap™, and The Little Acorn™, all of which will be found at the ABC Kids Expo. Go “all-in” at http://www.theabcshow.com!
Clean, Comfortable, and Convenient
This year, bare2britches™ co-founders Misti Nea and Jennifer York are making their ABC Expo debut with the most innovative portable changing station to date. Inspiration was born when York, a new mother, had trouble finding any hygienic, stable, or remotely acceptable changing stations on a road trip. In a mix of frustration and genius, York sketched a design of the table she wanted and began collaborating with Misti Nea to make her vision a reality shortly thereafter.
The bare2britches™ changing station is the answer to a question asked by millions of exasperated mothers and fathers: can’t this be any easier? It can! With a safety strap and a built-in indention for baby’s head, the foam pad is water resistant, making it an easy surface to clean. The portable station has an easy grip handle for carrying and also comes with two storage compartments, one of which holds a baby wipe dispenser. Clean, comfortable, convenient—exactly what their target demographic requested.
When The Giggle Guide® got in touch with bare2britches™, we asked what the two women were most excited about displaying. “Our portable baby changing station,” Nea replied simply, “it’s like nothing else on the market!”

All in the Family: The Mayron Story
A pharmaceutical chemist and an actress? An unlikely pairing, but Melanie Mayron, an actress best known from her work on the hit show, “thirtysomething,” and her chemist father, David Mayron, decided they could make a far better diaper cream on their own than the ones Melanie kept trying on her child with disappointing results. Melanie encouraged her father to concoct the perfect formula and David headed to his lab to give it a try. And he succeeded!
Mayron’s Diaper Cream is the stuff of baby ointment legend. This organic, all-natural cream is packed full of essential oils, anti-oxidants and vitamins, while staying completely devoid of the bad stuff. Mayron’s Goods® Baby Goods also offers a wide range of additional products including body oil, travel packs, and barrier cream for adults.
Melanie Mayron is excited to attend the tradeshow (“Who doesn’t love Las Vegas?”) for the second time. “I can’t wait to show buyers the products my dad made,” she proudly says. “He is 83 and still going to the lab every day!” Such a high level of dedication is clearly genetic. Melanie’s enthusiasm, along with an excellent line of baby goods and skin care, make this a booth not to miss!

Cooling Off
Have you ever tried to hold an ice pack on a child’s head? This is the primary question on Cool Gel ‘n Cap’s™ Web site, a product created and marketed by Timothy and Ewelina Panicali. As parents themselves, they have tried and failed to hold an ice pack to their child’s noggin while their young son Lukas would squirm away rather than cooperate when he had a bump or bruise. Timothy and Ewelina knew Lukas would continue to bump and bang into things, so the Panicalis got creative!
What if the ice pack was inside… a hat? Suddenly, the Cool Gel ‘n Cap™ was born. Originally styled to look like their dog Toby, the adorable floppy-eared cap is secure, comfortable, and brings instant cold or warm relief with provided reusable gel packs. The Cool Gel ‘n Cap™ can be used for an assortment of ailments such as bumps, bruises, headaches, earaches and ear infections. Plus, with Toby the Puppy, Tulip the Bunny, Lily the Hippo, and Kosmo the Bear style options, kids love these caps as much as their parents do!

The Little Acorn™: Grow Up Happy!
Based in San Francisco, The Little Acorn™ has both a mission and a motto. Its mission is to promote learning, social awareness, and tolerance through fashionable, original, handmade products. Its motto? Children should grow up happy!
Bridget Kelly, the artist and entrepreneurial force behind every character and design in the line, spent 20 years working for brand name companies and eventually decided she wanted to create something that said more than just “buy me.” Kelly’s messages are subtle but strong; a wall hanging of brightly colored robots bearing the message “Friends Come in All Colors” is a perfect example.
The Little Acorn™ is unique not only in its approach, but also in the products it produces. For instance, Fairy Robot Pillows are great for little ones who prefer R2D2 to Tinkerbell and the brand’s unique collections, such as Forest Friends and The Wishing Tree (both on display at the tradeshow) are artistic and eloquent, without losing any quirky childlike charm.
The Little Acorn™ is a masterful blend of efficiency and imagination; treat yourself to a visit at booth 4041! After all, it’s never too late to “grow up happy.” www.thelittleacorn.com
