Pick Up on Pieces from Peace-of Apparel
About three years ago, a trio of talented moms, Dina Kutinsky, Samanta Lieberman and Amy Multack, gave “peace” a chance by using the universally-recognized symbol as inspiration for their Peace-of brand. Offering one-pieces and tees for babies through tweens, the mod and punny pieces sport a twist on the ‘60s anti-war icon, in which the peace sign means both “piece” and “peace.” The symbol, first designed by the British nuclear disarmament movement, is now disarming kids’ wear with cute graphic statements, including “Master Peace”, “Peace of Work”, “Peace-ful”, “Peace of Cake” and “Inner Peace.” The line has even expanded to include Zen-inspired tees for moms, with the word plays, “Buddha-ful Baby” and “Buddha-licious.”
The Peace-of movement includes super-soft “one-peaces,” ruffle t-shirt dresses, and short and long-sleeved t-shirts, with most styles available in a full range of sizes from 6 months through large (14-16). The three designer moms also offer a cozy collection for women including soft yoga pants, tanks, crews, slub tees, and hoodies. Peace-of art colors trend more to the ‘90s than the ‘60s, with shades that include hot pink, butter, indigo, orange, raspberry, turquoise, lipstick, plum, heather grey, Caribbean blue, charcoal and white. Children’s retail prices are $21 to $27, and women’s apparel retails for $26 to $50.
