Stork Babies Are a Colorful, Cute Collection

It’s amazing how childhood experiences can shape a person’s artistic passions. Most often it’s not the major events that make the biggest impact, but the small details — the magical combinations of scents, colors, sounds and touch — that create strongest and most lasting impressions. This is true for Elizabeth Cross, the founder of the Fiametta Toy Company and the creator of Stork Babies.

When Elizabeth was a child, she was captivated by the colorful, charming miniature dolls she came across while in Greece. While the dolls didn’t come with any flashy accessories or technology, each had their own little outfits and unique personalities that made them special. They were lined up on large racks like a rainbow, making it difficult for little girls to choose just one.

Fast forward to 2012; Elizabeth is running her own business selling dolls based on these childhood memories, and loving every minute of it. Her Stork Babies dolls are an updated version of the European favorites she encountered as a child. They come in a variety of hair colors, eye colors and outfits, but they have added benefits as well. Each doll arrives in a box that includes an inspirational quote. These quotes are designed to help kids embrace a positive attitude and develop good self-esteem. It’s part of Elizabeth’s goal to improve the lives of girls everywhere.

In addition to the quotes, the company takes even more action to reach out on a global level by making life easier for girls. Many girls around the world suffer a range of hardships and injustices from malnutrition to sexist traditions that keep them from going to school. Part of the proceeds from every Stork Baby doll goes to a charity called Plan Canada – “Because I’m a Girl”. This charity helps girls in developing countries by providing much-needed assistance with nutrition and access to education opportunities. When a customer purchases a Stork baby doll, they know they’re doing something good not only for the child who receives the toy, but for kids in another nation.

What’s next for Elizabeth and Fiametta Toys? Riding the wave of their success in 2013 ( They won Creative Child Magazine’s Best Toy award for miniature collectibles), the company is optimistic about the future. Their latest collection is the Spanish Collection, which features dolls with Spanish names and clothing styles. The dolls also come with some cute accessories like miniature cribs and high chairs.
