Seedling Plants Seeds of Curiosity and Learning

Gifts that spark an intellectual response and curiosity from a child may have more long-term play value than other less creative choices. In today’s eco-conscious climate, many parents look for innovative ways to bolster kids’ natural curiosity and inspire them to think about others and the environment around them. It was this desire that led Phoebe Hayman to create Seedling, a company that creates kits which encourage kids to use their imaginations and explore the world… naturally!

The first four kits were based on painting, gardening, cooking and exploring nature. Phoebe debuted those in late 2006 at a local market, where she piqued the interest of a local toy store. Now Seedling products are carried in thousands of stores around the world.

The kits have significantly expanded beyond gardening and nature, covering a wide range of interests, including superhero cape or board game design, fashion design, and paper making (just to name a few). The range has over 100 products, is translated into eight languages and is exported to all corners of the globe.

Seedling products actively encourage children to seek help and answers from those around them, building relationships and communication skills. As most parents would agree, it’s the experience that matters, not the end result. One of the best parts about Seedling is everything is included: parents won’t be running out to buy batteries or searching to find compatible pieces at the end of a play date.

Based in New Zealand, each Seedling product is assembled by hand, and even the packaging is naturally good with an abundant use of recycled materials and recyclable plastics. An independent laboratory tests Seedling products to ensure that they meet the strictest international regulations, including the EN71, ASTMF963 and CPSIA safety standards.
