Provenance Mill Crafts Original Alpaca Clothes for Kids
Upon retirement from military careers, Susan and David Rabern were looking for a way to bring something of value to their community. Susan had a strong family heritage of knitting, and pairing that with their social conscience, they purchased Oak Tree Farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia and started raising alpacas. One of their businesses, Shenandoah Fiber, brings the finest fibers to the spinning and knitting community. Their sister business, Provenance Mill Clothiers, allows them to witness these fibers being transformed into the softest, most luxurious garments for children. “Provenance” is a word used to describe an object that can be traced through its source and ownership history. It is worthy of passage through generations as an artifact of the lives of those people it has touched. Provenance Mill Clothiers takes pride that each of their custom, handmade garments has a story, a history, a conscious and a future. The story begins with the care and raising of their alpacas who produce the fibers for the garments. The story continues with the lives of the people who cared and nurtured the animals, harvested the fiber, spun the yarn, knitted the garment, handcrafted the buttons and created vintage, heirloom boxes to ship and store the treasured garments.
Susan and David are committed to promoting sustainable agriculture, treating the environment with tender loving care, supporting artisans and giving back to those in need. In an effort to give to those less fortunate, they donate strong, warm alpaca blankets to the homeless.
Provenance Mill creates custom garments where the customer first picks the kind of garment they want, then chooses one of the 16 natural colors from the alpaca herd, and lastly selects their favorite buttons or bows. When complete, the request is sent to one of their artisan knitters. The garment is shipped within 4 to 6 weeks with a certificate of provenance that includes information about the alpaca who produced the fiber, the spinner and knitter, the consumer and the little one who will receive the one-of-a-kind creation. There is also a large supply of in-stock garments for expedited shipping.
Provenance Mill has a large selection of cardigans to choose from in styles with raglan sleeves, set-in sleeves, hooded versions and even a letterman style, as well as cozy pullover hoodies, Dutch pullovers, caps, jackets and tunics in solids and stripes to fit sizes infant to 6X.
