In today’s world, many daily interactions are quick-paced and short-lived. As electronics and screen time take over lives, occasionally kids forget the most basic, natural part of childhood: play. HABA has branched out from its classic wooden toys to create modern versions with heirloom quality. sigikid takes its cue from children’s need for cuddling, and creates developmentally appropriate toys. Ravensburger produces puzzles that will forever change how people think of putting pieces together. Hape Toys focuses on wood toys made from natural materials.

This was definitely true for Yaiza and Isabel Ambruster, a pair of sisters whose unique multicultural upbringing inspired them to launch their own children’s clothing collection, Little Lelia. The collection is designed in New York, made in Germany, and draws from the rich textile traditions of Latin America, showcasing vivid patterns in block-print style as well as other pattern types. Moons, butterflies, and polka dots are present, but not in same graphic artistic style usually found on children’s clothing.

Experts agree that babies should sleep on their backs for the first several months of life in order to reduce the chances of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). While back sleeping helps prevent a major danger it can sometimes lead to or exacerbate a lesser-known but significant problem. Some infants suffer from what is commonly called Flat Head Syndrome. Enter the Tortle Head Repositioning Beanie, a unique type of head-wear that’s made specifically to counteract Flat Head Syndrome and other minor to moderate head positioning problems in infants.

The chaotic mind state that follows the birth of a baby can make it difficult for parents to keep any semblance of a regular schedule. While technology has given us products to make many parts of life easier and more efficient, it hasn’t done much to ease the effects of “baby brain”…. until now. When Paul Barton’s sister got pregnant, he and his wife, Sandy, discovered a gap in the children’s market. They searched for baby clothes that were both fashionable and sustainable, but couldn’t find anything that they liked. Clothes produced in an ethical manner all seemed to be frumpy and boring, whereas the cutest baby clothes were in no way sustainable. When the couple discovered they had a baby of their own on the way, they decided to take on the challenge themselves. Spence Baby was born, named after their new little girl, Spencer Grace.

A few years ago, Majorie Labrèque Lepage was asked to sew a stuffed toy for a friend’s new arrival. At once, she received copious praise from everyone for her furry creation. She soon realized the joy she felt for creating these unique creatures. As a daughter of an entrepreneur, she could not help but start her own business –– Velvet Moustache. The brand has a number of lines, including cushions, soft toys and fashion. The cushions are square-shaped animal and people-like characters with wide eyes and over-sized ears. Their furry fabric makes them a great accessory for beds and playrooms.

There’s a new way to look at diaper bags. Up to now, no company had delved into the world of microbes (aka icky germs) or anti-stick coatings, but that’s changed due to this dynamic duo of new licensed diaper bags: Ju-Ju-Be has begun a collaboration with Hello Kitty, the iconic brand everyone adores. The new Kitty collection features signature diaper bag designs in a range of shapes with –– retailers take note –– a custom print; bow zipper pulls; and super-cute, functional hidden surprises such as embroidery details inside each bag. Invite shoppers to peer inside the bag to get a look at the “hidden” three apples, a nod to Hello Kitty who herself is three apples tall and weighs five apples.
