If children are our future, then focus needs to extend beyond just what they eat to what they use to eat it. Get past the plastic with alternative eco-friendly materials like stainless steel, bamboo and chemical-free plastic substitutes. Dining out or dining in, The Giggle Guide® recommends these environmentally-safe products that are portable, safe and stylish: ZoLi, Innobaby, ANYWhere by Untangled Living, and Bambooware by Bamboo Studio.

Moms who have really done their homework know that one of the most important things they can do for their child’s development is breastfeed if they are able, and then start the child on a high-quality diet with vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. This dietary transition can be a tough. Many commercially-made baby foods are not organic, thus running the risk of exposing a child to pesticides, or contain additives. That is why many mothers make their own baby foods at home, and Ruth Yaron’s book, Super Baby Food, gives great guidance on making baby purees and on what and when to feed babies to keep them healthy and support their growth.

Toys don’t always have to be large, noisy, expensive or digital. Some of the most entertaining options are right at your fingertips… in this case, quite literally. With Finger Puppets Inc., this notion is all too true. Kids will love the creative designs of these unique Peruvian puppets. Parents will appreciate teaching their kids about different places around the world and enhancing their social skills. Crafted in the high plains of Peru by local families, these puppets are a tribute to the ancient ways of entertainment. Lessons can be learned and remembered through fun stories.

America is such a diverse country with so many points of view and traditions to draw on, it’s almost impossible to pin down one look and label it “American Style”. While we don’t have one standard look, we do have a set of ideals we’re known for, and these can be seen in the products we wear and use. Our love for wide open spaces is apparent in western wear like you’ll find at Cuddlestar. Our innovation is seen in the “Why didn’t I think of that?” simplicity of the The Little Lasso. Our respect for the innocence and beauty of childhood shines through in fashions from companies like Malley & Co. and A Little Annafaith.

In today’s world, many daily interactions are quick-paced and short-lived. As electronics and screen time take over lives, occasionally kids forget the most basic, natural part of childhood: play. Germany takes us back to the basics with wonderful, traditional toys that rely on brains, not batteries. HABA has branched out from its classic wooden toys to create modern versions with heirloom quality. sigikid takes its cue from children’s need for cuddling, and creates developmentally appropriate toys. Ravensburger produces puzzles that will forever change how people think of putting pieces together. Hape Toys focuses on wood toys made from natural materials.

If you have moms coming into your store who want a comfortable product for both them and their baby while on the go –– and are also concerned about environmentally-friendly living which will leave baby with a clean, green planet, you will definitely want to invest in Poncho Baby products. This line of baby products offers mom and baby both comfort and convenience, with a focus on sustainability. Studies show that children who are exposed to multiple cultures and languages while growing up tend to be more successful and creative adults. This was definitely true for Yaiza and Isabel Ambruster, a pair of sisters whose unique multicultural upbringing inspired them to launch their own children’s clothing collection, Little Lelia. The collection is designed in New York, made in Germany, and draws from the rich textile traditions of Latin America, showcasing vivid patterns in block-print style as well as other pattern types. Moons, butterflies, and polka dots are present, but not in same graphic artistic style usually found on children’s clothing.

Teeth are milestone markers for parents and kids alike. Painful coming in and sometimes coming out, we all know brushing and flossing is crucial to keeping pain away in between. Anyone who has tried to teach a wriggling toddler how to properly swish and spit knows a lot more toothpaste ends up in gullets than in the sink. Thankfully that worry is lessened with natural toothpastes such as Jack N’ Jill. Made in Melbourne, Australia starting in 1949, the toothpaste is 100% safe for young children. Flavors like banana, blackcurrant, blueberry, raspberry and strawberry make for fruity fun.

The chaotic mind state that follows the birth of a baby can make it difficult for parents to keep any semblance of a regular schedule. While technology has given us products to make many parts of life easier and more efficient, it hasn’t done much to ease the effects of “baby brain”…. until now. The Pocket Nanny by Itzbeen Innovated, Inc. is an electronic device that helps parents keep track of daily baby care tasks. This compact, lightweight gadget combines multiple features to create an all-in-one time management system.
