There’s a new way to look at diaper bags. Up to now, no company had delved into the world of microbes (aka icky germs) or anti-stick coatings, but that’s changed due to this dynamic duo of new licensed diaper bags: Ju-Ju-Be has begun a collaboration with Hello Kitty, the iconic brand everyone adores. The new Kitty collection features signature diaper bag designs in a range of shapes with –– retailers take note –– a custom print; bow zipper pulls; and super-cute, functional hidden surprises such as embroidery details inside each bag. Invite shoppers to peer inside the bag to get a look at the “hidden” three apples, a nod to Hello Kitty who herself is three apples tall and weighs five apples.

Over thirty years ago, Becky Cannon asked herself how she could provide natural care both inside and out for her future family. She spent the next three years studying and teaching young children about natural foods in Japan. There she had her daughter Emi. After moving back to the States and preparing for the birth of her second daughter, Mari, she missed the unique baby products she discovered in Japan. Soon, Cannon started importing diaper covers from Japan to make them available for other parents. Today, Cannon and her daughters are the mother-daughter owners of i play.®, as they continue to focus on creating the best baby-friendly products.

After traveling the world attending toy fairs, Michael Sellinger noticed there were no contemporarily designed, open-ended toys in the U.S. market. So, he created Sound of Fun to “correct the situation.” Sound of Fun offers two lines: the Kiddimoto — a wooden balance bike, and the Roomii — a ride-on toy chest. Both Kiddimoto and Roomii are awarding-winning English brands that represent the best in UK design, while meeting all American and European standards.

Playtime NY took place August 2-4, 2014 at the Metropolitan Pavilion. Each year the show has a unique theme that influences the décor and ties the various displays together. This time the theme was Luna Park, in honor of the famed Coney Island theme park destination. As a nice break from work-related activities, all Playtime participants got their pictures taken in a fun photo-shoot featuring backgrounds by the graphic design firm Colorium. Among the smiling faces were representatives from Be Lucky Kids, Two and Two Kids, poème & poésie, and Luna & Stella.

Early in the morning, Julia Feldman would place her daughter in her stroller, cover her with her blanket, and head out for her run. Yet, within minutes the blanket was coming untucked, dragging on the ground and getting caught in the wheels. Shaking off the dirt-ridden blanket, she thought, “Maybe we can tweak this.” Bella Bundles offers blankets, bibs, sleep sacks and hooded towels that are altered ever so slightly to strengthen their functionality.
