Imaginations Open Up with Box Play
Capitalizing on the importance of a child’s imagination, Box Play for Kids offers eco-friendly kids stickers to repurpose recyclables into fun, new toys. The company was inspired by owner Janette Harwell’s 2-year-old daughter and her love for stickers and a “penchant for playing with empty boxes.” Harwell continues, “I had an ‘aha’ moment that lead to the invention of Box Play for Kids.” Fortunately for Harwell’s daughter, both her parents are designers who have specialized in package design, branding and advertising for over 20 years. With that experience and the mission to promote creative play that stimulates curiosity, enthusiasm and learning in kids, the company has started to grow.
Harwell attributes the company’s success to the fact that their products are great for the earth, the imagination, and the pocket book. Of course Harwell had to shine light on their team stating, “Our PR team has done a great job getting us media buzz. Trade shows allow us to meet directly with retail buyers. This year we’re focusing on local efforts and partnering with local business for custom orders.”
Box Play for Kids products range from stickers for egg cartons and paper towel rolls to Mac & Cheese boxes. There are plenty of options to engage and inspire the kids for hours; according to Harwell the top sellers are the fire truck, school bus, green camo binoculars, camera, piano, octopus and horn stickers. Although Harwell does not have a favorite product, she insists that the animals are the cutest. Currently in development are additional sticker designs. Box Play for Kids also markets their stickers in Party Packs.
Last year Box Play for Kids was picked up to be sold in Nordstrom and Whole Foods, totaling over 200 retail stores where their products are sold. All their products are made in the USA and are environmentally friendly.
