With the trade show season starting, The Giggle Guide™ will be busy publishing many Trade Show Reports. Co-founder/Editor Leesa Valentino and/or I will be attending the following shows: ENK Children’s in August and October, Bubble NY, KidShow Las Vegas, MAGICKids, ABC Kids Expo, Kids on 6 LA Market Week, Dallas Market, and Vegas Kids at World Market Center in Las Vegas.

Overall sentiment country-wide is that trade shows from Atlanta to Chicago to Dallas are trending down in both foot traffic and written sales. But can’t we all use some good news? Here it is: Buyers, reps and manufacturers are still attending trade shows, planning for the future and working together to make it through a tough retail environment.

I’d love to say I’ve been on vacation these past few weeks, but the truth is I’ve been doggedly focused on the final approval stages of our new eco-friendly, biodegradable, fully recyclable, and utterly adorable new packaging! Effective October 1st, the entire line of Original Clean Shopper shopping cart covers and Clean Diner highchair covers will be packaged in trendy, eco-friendly containers. We’ve just made the best value on the market even better!

Just back from a great weekend in Atlanta – and almost ready to get back to work….

I just got a really nice thank-you email from Larry Birkhead with these sweet pictures of Dannielynn. She’s wearing the new No Slippy Hair Clippy® bows we sent her last month; he says they’re ideal for a single father who has no idea what to do with a little girl’s hair. I must disagree. I think he’s doing a great job – she always looks adorable!

I often receive phone calls from people in the kid’s industry. Usually from recruiters, sales managers, entrepreneurs or moms soliciting advice and ostensibly, building their network. These callers speed through the “niceties” portion of the call and, after their lightning-fast self-introduction, I often don’t know the name of who’s calling me, or why they’re calling.

I have had the recent pleasure of coming across a special little store. Upon entering their Web site you are instantly aware that you are about to venture where only the cutest, sweetest baby things are.. pictures of little angels in leopard leotards and flapper style hats let you know that you are in for a unique experience. This is not your average Baby Boutique. In fact this is Brea’s Baby Boutique, and I couldn’t recommend them highly enough.

Over the last decade or so, I have noticed a very discernible pattern. It seems that our primary target demographic, moms, has embraced technology with a fervor, becoming one of the most prolific and powerful groups on the Internet…yet those of us on the ‘commerce’ side, (retailers and vendors), have for the most part seriously lagged behind. Before we can move forward, we must understand where we’ve been, and why we were there.

Hello everyone…I just received an e-mail from Southern Living magazine that the video is up for the 2009 Idea House in Port Aransas,Texas. They included some of my art for the children’s upstaris bedroom. They only show the Mod Owls in the room, but they did put some others in there as well. You’ll have to pick up the August issue to see the rest. I’m so excited and honored to be chosen as one of the many artists throughout the house. Click on the link below to watch the video…and my art is shown around the 2-minute mark. Thanks for looking..Smile

Before I start this blog, I want to note that I will be moving my weekly blog to this location on the Giggle Guide. Being involved with social media since 2003, I can honestly say that it is about time that a platform like The Giggle Guide has finally come to be. I urge everyone involved in the various related trades and industries to jump in with both feet and get involved!
