August Birth Stone: Peridot
August Birth Flower: Gladiolous

Origin of the month’s name: The month August is named after Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus, Julius Caesar’s grandnephew. After Augustus defeated Marc Antony and Cleopatra and became emperor of Rome, the Roman Senate decided that he should have a month named after him. Welcome August!

Celebrity Baby Birthdays in August:

  • Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt, born August 5th 2001. Maddox is the son of superstars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

With August fast approaching us, you start to think, “Where did July go?” Or more so, “Where did summer go?” We tend to be so wrapped up in work, family, our children’s events and finding time for ourselves in the mix of it all that time flies by us. But there is still plenty of time left in August to get in fun, cheap activities you haven’t done yet this summer while still enjoying the sun and warm weather.

The always precious Dannielynn Birkhead (daughter of the late Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead) was seen playing at a park in Beverly Hills this past weekend with her daddy. Some adorable shots of the two playing on a swing were found on Celebrity Baby Scoop. She is shown wearing a No Slippy Hair Clippy Whitney Princess - 3 ½ inch Princess Bow®.

Doesn’t she look like the perfect little Hollywood starlet with those pink glasses? What a doll.

Hello everyone. I’ve had quite an interesting last couple of weeks…mainly why I haven’t been on this blog. My computer has had a virus and still does…and I’m still trying to get it fixed. I’ve been working off a laptop and my husband’s computer, but since everything is mainly linked to mine, I’ve been unable to even load new art on my Etsy shop and my main site. I am so frustrated…I can’t even tell you. I am also sorry to those who I haven’t e-mailed back, because it was my business e-mail that got attacked by a nasty virus. I will get back to you and hopefully soon.

It is nothing new to hear about how bad excess T.V. watching is for children. Kids who watch a ton of television are more likely to be overweight than children who get outside and play. Also attention spans have proved to be shorter in those kids who are exposed to prolonged T.V viewing. Not to mention that there are so many more productive activities that a child could be engaging in other than zoning out in front of a television set.

Keeping your head, hands, feet and neck warm during the cold winter, especially here in Minnesota, is something we all know is imperative to enjoying the long winter months. Trying to take an infant or toddler out in the middle of winter can be a challenge, but if you have the right gear and comfortable accessories, it can be a great time. With Bebe Bella’s soft and warm hats, mittens, scarves and booties, we can make those winter months bearable.

Welcome to July folks! This month brings the birth of our independent nation, stunning fireworks displays, yummy barbeque’s and a whole lot of time outdoors. While enjoying all that blessed fresh air, there are two things you should try and remember:

  • Do not forget to slather on the sunscreen (liberally)
  • Accesorize with NSHC patriotic bows!

These clips are just too perfect for Independence Day and I recommend them for any little girls 4th of July weekend outfits.

These are some photos that were taken recently by my friend Jason Munford.

Just back from a great weekend in LA, where I went to help Renee and Scott Baio with their very first Celebrity Baby Yard Sale. I flew out there last Friday, rented a brand new red Mustang convertible (thanks for the upgrade, Hertz!), and headed to the Valley (my first visit ever) by the grace of GPS. The whole crew worked like mad setting up the event ; I didn’t get to bed till 4:30 AM! Three hours of sleep and I’m back up and off to the sale. Such a glamorous life, I know….

Summer is just around the corner. Time for longer days, melting ice cream cones, camping trips and sunburns… Don’t you just love summertime?! I still can’t shake that adolescent excitement that overwhelms me just as May gives way to June. Although as adults, we don’t have summer camp or sleepovers to look forward to, we do have backyard BBQ’s, 4th of July celebrations and lots of adorable little tots to keep us busy all summer long.

Happy earth Day everyone. It’s finally beautiful weather here today in Texas. We have had so many hail storms, rain, and I’m done with it. It’s in the 80’s today and I’m still feeling stressed out about all the work that needs to be done by me. That’s really the main reason as well as to why I haven’t even gotten on this blog….YES…stressing about finding the time to blog. Well, a little walk with Hawk this morning definitely sparked my spirits ..a little bit. I was also reminded by my son Ryan today as how well I hold in my stress.

A few posts back I had mentioned that I would start showing bits and pieces of my home. So today I decided to take some pictures of my front garden. It’s been a work in progress over the last couple of years and it’s finally looking the way I had planned. And with Spring finally arriving here in Texas… my flowers are really starting to bloom.

This vine growing over the arch is Jasmine and their is a mother bird and her nest tucked inside.
