We send special baskets full of new product to the media every spring, and we’re already seeing spectacular results! Baby Couture’s new issue is featuring no less than four of our items – one pair of eco-friendly leather sandals from Pedoodles®, one bath toy from Elegant Baby®, and one headband and one hairclip from No Slippy Hair Clippy®. Check it out – Tori Spelling is on the cover.

I recently was commissioned by some clients from Dallas to create some art for their kids playroom. I actually did about four pieces for them, but stupidly forgot to take pictures of everything. But I luckily did take a photo of the biggest. The painting above was 4 feet x 4 feet (HUGE)…seriously it was big. They basically loved my Raining Mister Elephant painting but wanted more characters and really wanted the African amazon feel with trees and such.

I added monkeys and a funky orange giraffe. And a deep rich blue striped zebra for fun.

Almost every Web site I visit has an About Us page. It’s a personal touch on a website and one that I visit on almost every site I browse. What most small business owners or marketing directors forget when they create this page is that this page is for a specific, targeted audience. The About Us page is a concise summary for your brand, explaining why you felt compelled to start a business, why your products should get a piece of a consumer’s disposable income and why you should be trusted to deliver on your promise.

The front man of popular rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave, Chris Cornell, is one of the biggest stars that rock and roll has ever seen. He boasts an impressive four octave vocal range, (which is pretty cool in case you didn’t know) and a charisma and presence that can not easily be duplicated.

These days he is doing solo projects, his most recent album is Scream, and working on his most important venture of all, his family. Chris is married to a beautiful publicist, Vicky Karayiannis, with whom he has 2 children, Toni and Christopher Nicholas.

Our very own President and CEO, Annie Salyer, had the privilege of meeting and spending a bit of time with the beautiful Oscar nominated actress, Angela Bassett! What’s Love Got to Do with it and Waiting to Exhale were such great movies, I spent the entire duration of both films eyes glued to the screen, box of tissues in hand… I know I am a sap, but completely off point. Smile Annie had this to say about the Hollywood heavyweight:

As many pregnant woman know, you are exhausted during your first trimester of the pregnancy. I read about this in a book prior to getting pregnant and thought … that won’t happen to me. I’m pretty active and I hate taking naps. I was totally wrong. I’m lucky if I can make it through dinner some nights without falling asleep at the dinner table. It’s a good thing the chairs aren’t too comfortable. So I’ve done a better job of getting ready for bed earlier. I am also very lucky to have a flexible job, so if I over sleep, it’s okay if I am a little late to work.

Just back from a great weekend in LA, where I went to help Renee and Scott Baio with their very first Celebrity Baby Yard Sale. I flew out there last Friday, rented a brand new red Mustang convertible (thanks for the upgrade, Hertz!), and headed to the Valley (my first visit ever) by the grace of GPS. The whole crew worked like mad setting up the event ; I didn’t get to bed till 4:30 AM! Three hours of sleep and I’m back up and off to the sale. Such a glamorous life, I know….

From time to time, I will try to post links to interesting news stories about marketing, advertising and PR and how it can help generate increased brand exposure. Below are two interesting articles that relate specifically to the current economy.

From the Association of National Advertiser:

According to the Association of National Advertisers, PR may actually be getting a boost during the recession. While companies are cutting back on sponsorships, production, and media budgets, many are continuing or increasing the more inexpensive art of public relations.

Summer is just around the corner. Time for longer days, melting ice cream cones, camping trips and sunburns… Don’t you just love summertime?! I still can’t shake that adolescent excitement that overwhelms me just as May gives way to June. Although as adults, we don’t have summer camp or sleepovers to look forward to, we do have backyard BBQ’s, 4th of July celebrations and lots of adorable little tots to keep us busy all summer long.
